I recently traveled from AUS (Austin) to Jacksonville (JAX) and Express Jet was one of the ONLY airlines that flew direct without connecting through Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, or Orlando. Besides being a direct flight, I also chose it due to the inexpensive fare and the convenient flight schedules. I had never heard of the airline, and that made me kind of nervous, but it turns out I had nothing to worry about. Check in was a breeze. The flight left on-time, and due to the number of passengers they let you sit wherever you wanted. So I got to stretch out with the whole row to myself. If during the flight you need the loo, you will be pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and lack of "airplane bathroom smell." No "sky mall" here, but there is a very cool magazine the airline puts out. I forget the name...
During the flight they passed out headsets to plug into the armrests where XM satellite Radio receivers are installed. Then drinks are served. You can choose from an extensive selection of sodas, juices, coffee or water, or opt to spend $1 for Fosters, MGD, or Miller Lite, for $3 for wine or a cocktail. The food options are usually a Turkey and Swiss Sandwich or a small little serving of pasta. (I recommend the sandwich) The pasta comes with carrots, the sandwich with cookies and peanuts. Then they bring by Sun Chips, and lastly there is a dessert/snack tray with Milano cookies, pretzels, peanuts, crackers, etc... Lastly, upon decent, they bring by a tray of mints.
Upon landing the baggage arrives at Baggage Claim VERY swiftly (sometimes before you can even make it to the carousel (depending on the airport). The staff is all very friendly and helpful. The experience was one of the best experiences I have had flying in a WHILE. I DEFINTELY recommend, and I will DEF fly again!
