Explorers Review

   One of my favorite films is Explorers with a young Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix. First debued in 1985, this sci-fi action, comedy family classic by director Joe Dante ("Gremlins") takes us on a journey of three boys who connect over the curiosity of outerspace. Through a dream, these boys find blue prints for a flying machine they build out of junk yard parts to travel to the outer universe for a "close encounter".

   Ethan Hawke is the main character, who is fascinated with space and sci-fi, takes us on his newly found vivid dreams that his best friend, played by a young River Phoenix, who is a science nerd inventor who comes from an odd family, interprets his dream. They bring along a rebellious new friend, played by Jason Presson, whos anticks make for a comedic, exciting adventure that your kids will love as much as mine does.

   This movie takes me back to my childhood and it will probably take you back to yours, too!
