Lost luggage, The unknown..., Useless internationally, Hard to contact outside of U.S., long wait for customer service, Buck passer, Terrible customer service., Basically a middleman

One of my sons booked a trip to Rio through expdia.com. This was not his first trip to Brazil, and he was familiar with the customs, etc. After the first 2 weeks of his vacation (he had planned to be ther for a month) he called me to say there was some sort of turmoil going on in the city he was staying in and wanted to get home asap. As i spoke to him, he said someone ran by him waving an automatic rifle. I called expedia.com and was told I had to contact the airline (Northwest) directly. When I did that, they told me to call expedia, not them. It took 40 minutes to find out I really did have to talk to NW and was told the flight out of Rio was through Continental, not NW!!!!! My son could not get a flight out for 2 days!!! Not happy with expedia or Northwest Airlines and none of us will use expedia ever again and although our family is not that big (between my children & their spouses, my sisters' children & their spouses, our grandchildren and their spouses, we number 83), we are telling all of our extended family, friends and co-workers to boycott expedia.com and Northwest Airlines. On top of that, the airlineĀ lost his luggage both ways!!!
