Excalibur Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas, NV Review Summary

Budget conscious travelers enjoyed the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Reviewers liked the fact that the Excalibur was “one of the ‘big name’ hotels” and that it has walkways that connect it to New York, New York and the Tropicana. Some reviewers felt that the Excalibur was a bit “cheesy” (hey, it’s Vegas), that show prices were a little expensive and that it’s also a little bit dated. Not sure hot to get here?      I love to visit Las Vegas.  The first time that I went out to Las Vegas I stayed in the Excalibur Hotel and Casino.  I was overwhelmed by the strip and the bright lights, I just didn't know what to do.  Check-in was quite busy, it took quite some time to get through the lines, though they...

If you are looking for a Strip hotel to stay at while in Las Vegas, but are on a budget, this is a great hotel option.  I have often found rooms for $100 and this hotel is close to many other higher end hotels in the middle of the city.  What I love most about the Excalibur is the unique castle shape... review »

The Case

Most of my family was in Vegas this last February for my aunt's wedding, and we all stayed at the Excalibur. It's a nice enough hotel, but I'm reading Last Call right now, by Tim Powers, and in the book, the Excalibur is described as looking 'like the grandest hole in God's own miniature golf course.'

And you know what? It REALLY does!

The Good

The Excalibur is a fun hotel right on the Strip. It's one of the 'big name' hotels, like the MGM Grand, The Luxor, Caesar's Palace, or The Sahara. The location is really great, and you can get to The Luxor and Mandalay Bay by either free tram or indoor...

I stayed there because my Niece was getting married in the chapel at the hotel. It was my first trip to Las Vegas, so I wanted to be close to where the wedding was to take place. I was not disappointed. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, nothing reall fancy. The food in the resturants was good, but a little pricey. It was more family oriented than the other hotels I visted while I was in town. It was convienently located near the monorail that ran the length of the strip. I was told that it was niot a good idea to rent a car while in Las Vegas and they were correct.... review »

If you are looking for a hotel that is a good value and located on the strip, the Excalibur is the place to stay.  I have stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last 3 years and I think it is one of the best.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, you do not wait in line for hours to register for your room and if you arrive and your room is available they do not make you wait until the published 4pm time, they will let you go to your room.  In most cases if the room has not been cleaned they will still allow you to drop off your bags in the room so you can begin your vacation.

The rooms are...

The hotel is located in a decent spot on the southern stretch of the Strip.  It is close to many fun casino/hotels.  I stayed there last November and thought the place was a bit dated and some of it was going through construction which probably explained the good deal we got on our room.  They have guards by all of the elevators so you have to show your room key to them everytime you want to go back up to your room.  The elevators were dirty, with fingerprints everywhere, wrappers, cigarette butts and beer bottles.  The hallways weren't much better.  Room service trays stayed outside of room... review »

I stayed at the Excaliber in October of 2009 for my brother's wedding.  We were all on a budget and trying to save a few bucks.  The hotel staff was not friendly or welcoming.  When I checked into my room I noticed a broken glass panel in a light fixture.  I called the front desk to advise them, the clerk was short and curt and said she would turn in a work order.  When I go to the room later that night there was a message from the front desk saying maintenance found nothing wrong with the shower glass panel.  Since we had a large group staying at the hotel, I went to the concierge to see...

I found excalibur to be the most exciding place. Even more exciding if your a kid who believes in knights and dragons. The rooms are beautifully done as if you where back in time. The swimming pools are shape so well with little castle around them. The shop have alot of wounderful things to buy that make you want to buy eveything in the shop. The buffet I would have to say is out standing.

The one thing I would recommend is you go see tournament of kings. It is one of the most exciding show I have ever see. The food is good and the action from the show is exciding you'll want to see it again. Alot...

I am local from Las Vegas on the night of August 9 2008 my air conditioned unit broke down so I decide to rent a hotel to spend a night with my family and run away from my hot house.

The kids have fun at the pool; we rent a cabana to follow the Olympics'

Games.

We when back to the room at 8:00 PM after they close the pool take a shower and order a movie at 8:59PM.

Monday we have breakfast at the buffet and them we check out, when we have the final bill after spent a couple hundred on food and drinks them they charge me for a movie that didn't rent $10.99 I told them that I never rent that movie...

If you are not super picky about where you stay when in Vegas the Excalibur may be for you. Their room rates are usually affordable and less than most hotels on the strip. It is not the most modern hotel and is one of the 1st ones to be on the south strip. The rooms are fine, nothing fancy and the table games are usually more affordable than some other resorts. Directly across the street(you can access by bridge) is New York casino for better restaurants than the ones in Excalibur. Ate at the buffet in Excalibur on my last visit and did not care much for it. It is in a good location to go...

Staying in this hotel gave us a the excitement of Las Vegas but not with the high prices. There is plenty to do within the casino. Dinner at Dick's Last Resort was fun and everyone in the family can join in. Tournament of Kings is fun to be at and get caught up in the excitement. Beyond Excalibur is a monorail that takes you to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay at no cost. Also from Excalibur you can walk to the MGM Grand and hop on the monorail that covers the whole strip of Vegas. Excalibur is a great location for lots of fun and family things to do.

My boyfriend and I thought it would be fun to stay at a castle, so we got a hotel at the Excalibur in las Vegas when we got there we checked in and they lady gave us a smoking room when we asked for non-smoking, so we went back and asked for non-smoking.  she gave us one that was right next to some very loud machine that made noises all night long so we couldn't get a decent sleep.  Did I mention the place is kinda confusing so we kept getting lost in our own hotel?  Not the best place to stay

Just spent a week at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas.  We had a great time and the pools are amazing.  It's located at a perfect location on the strip, close access to various transportation choices. We upgraded to the recently remodaled rooms which contained an in-room safe. The service was excellent and we were able to use comp's to get a free breakfast and $200 off our room total at the end of our stay.  We will stay here again on our next vegas trip.

Last year we traveled to Las Vegas and booked a room at the Excaliber for something different. I knew that it was an older hotel, but we usually dine at the buffet each year that we travel there, so we decided to book a room there. I was not impressed with the room. It definitely needs to be updated. The buffet will always be a favorite dinning experience, but as far as accommodations, we will be booking at another hotel when we go next year.

The Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas was an awesome hotel to visit.  We had our children with us and they just loved the decor.  Everything was exactly as we read it would be.  Very impressed.  The suites are exceptionally large and the views are amazing.  I would definately recommend this place for the average traveler who wants just a little extra.
