I must have been throwing away ten dollars in produce every week...what a waste; until I saw a commercial for those Sally Hanson? Green bags which are quite similar to these. I found them super inexpensive (on ebay-of course), and gave them a try. OK so here's how it happened.
I started with some lettuce...
i wanted to really check this out before going full hog and using more of the bags than I needed to in case i had to return them. After all, I wasn't sure if what I saw on the commercial was on par...it may have been quite possible that they had found a sucker and past a few camera tricks past my watchful eye. If you haven't seen those ads...produce is put into the green bags and some left out, and timelaspsed to show you that the green bags keep your food fresh five times longer...sounded kinda voo-doo to me! But it worked...no lie, my lettuce lasted 5 weeks and every time I opened the bag, it was just as crisp as the day I put it in there...just remember when closing the bags to use rubber bands to seal them instead of plastic bread ties because the black-magic only works if there aren't minute holes in your bags from those little plastic edges.
So the voo-doo hooked me and I use them for everything and i never throw away produce again. I am a serious cook being Italian/Norwegian making eight hour spaghetti and the like, and so freshness is very important to me...but who I really think it will benefit is the bachelor who rarely opens his fridge...he may NOT have to faint at the smell wafting from that glowing, cold, box-like thing that is basically a storage for penicillin.
I highly recommend these green bags to anyone, serious cook or unconscious bachelor on his tile kitchen floor...
