Cute and pink but do women REALLY need their own weights?

Quick View: I generally lift heavier weights but I have a few very fast-paced cardio workouts that incorporate light weights into the routine. My heavy weights were simply TOO heavy for me to do the workouts and not screw up my form. I decided three pound weights would be perfect. Instead of just buying simple weights, I went for girly pink ones. These are fine but really, I would be just as happy with unisex, no frills weights.

About Everlast for Her 3-Pound Easy Grip Weights

These come in various weights and are sold separately. I didn't realize at first that I needed to buy two. For some reason I thought they came in pairs. They are very bubble gum pink and shaped like B. I tried to look at them as shaped like an E for Everlast but they aren't. Whatever. The hand grips have little finger ridges to get a good grip and they are covered with vinyl which feels good in my hands.

The vinyl soon gets slippery though when my hands sweat and I had to invest in another pair of weight lifting gloves to keep a good grip on these weights. That is not an issue with weights that have a nubby surface or even the real cheap Hex ones I pick up at Dick's Sporting Goods.

These weights were about $6.00 each. They work fine for my needs but the added space they take up can sometimes get in my way when I am trying to work fast and not smack myself in the head or face. So far, I have avoided those scenarios.

I like these weights well enough. I don't think they are that superior to the usual hand weights and, in fact, in some ways are inferior. The slippery surface really is an issue without weight gloves on. They also take up more space in a gym bag or wherever one would store such weights.

If I had it to do over, I would probably just get a pair of three pound weights at Wal-Mart to match my heavier ones. They never slip and have a great rough surface to give me a very stable grip. They also are easy to hold, simple, and effective.

The Everlast for Her 3-Pound Easy Grip Weights are novelties. They're "for women" and pink and ergonomic. But are they better? Nah. They're just trendy.

My Viewpoint

I use these weights and they are fine but I don't feel they are superior to regular cheaper hand weights. They do their job by weighing three pounds each and I get to do my fast-paced workouts without ripping my shoulders off. However, I don't think I would buy other sizes of these weights. I'm perfectly content with the dumbbell design and like it better. 3 stars. Cute, novel, but not any better than other three pound weights. Buy them for the look not the superior design bcause it really isn't.

But they are pretty. I always thought hey a weight is a weight, but it's ok to look stylish too.

I think they are pretty odd. lol. They work but I'll stick with my usual normal looking weights from now on.

Sounds like an odd set of weights :) (They look a little weird too)
