Let's face it, there is an ever increasing number of gadgets and other electronic equipment that need "AA" sized batteries to operate: penlight flashlights, remotes, MP3 players, bedside clocks, wireless keyboard & mice, digital cameras, portable GPS devices.  For instance at work I use Eveready Gold AA Size Alkaline Batteries for a port clock on my desk, two wireless keyboard and two wireless mice.

My Viewpoint

In addition to the above mentioned uses, I can also use the batteries in a portable voice recorder/Cassette, which takes two and a number of portable computer mice.  Under normal everyday usage (2-3 hours a day) I can expect to get about 3.0 to 3.5 months of usage from the batteries in my wireless mouse; this is comparable to about the same time as higher priced Duracell and Energizer AA batteries.
