The D-Fuzz-It Sweater & Fabric Comb belongs in every sewing kit and dresser drawer. It's easy to throw into a bag when you travel and it doesn't require batteries like electric fabric shavers. I wouldn't own a sweater without having one nearby.
I initially bought D-Fuzz-It to keep in my sewing room. I had prewashed some sweatshirt fabric, and of course, there were pills of lint all over it when I took it out of the dryer. I held the fabric taut with one hand, and shaved the pills away with the fabric comb in the other. The product is easy to use and a quick brush of the comb against the fabric picks up the lint easily. I found that the D-Fuzz-It didn't damage the fabric fibers--it only removed what I wanted it to remove.
If there is a downside, it is that the teeth on the sweater comb are quite small. That means, if you are working on a large garment or a significant yardage of fabric, it's going to take awhile to get it all done. I also had to stop-and-start frequently to unclog the debris from the teeth of the fabric comb. I wish there was an easier way to clean out all the little teeth.
In addition to acrylic and woolen sweaters and fabric, I've used the D-Fuzz-It on upholstery, curtains, and woven knits without any problems. As long as I pull the fabric taut and comb with light pressure, everything seems to work fine with no damage to the rest of the garment.
Overall, the D-Fuzz-It Sweater & Fabric Comb is a great addition to your sewing kit or laundry room. It's the most practical $2.59 I've ever spent.
