Evenflo Triumph 5 Review Summary

As a convertible car seat, the Evenflo Triumph 5 has received high safety ratings from Consumer Reports as well as high ratings from most Viewpoints reviewers. With it’s wider design, owners of the Triumph often state “that it is bulky but [my child] enjoys how much room he has.” So, be prepared to lift a hefty seat. Additional features of the triumph that reviewers enjoy are that it is “reasonably priced,” and “how easily the straps adjust“. As with other Evenflo car seats, the 5-point harness adjusts using a simple turning knob. Though this may be slightly difficult to figure out at first it is definitely a bonus for getting a snug fit. Many reviewers state it is “difficult to remove the cover” for cleaning and also mention their child “can get underneath the cover and kind of play with the Styrofoam.” The Triumph was recalled and updated for this specific reason so ensure your seat is a newer version prior to purchasing. Stated well by one reviewer “the Triumph 5 is a practical seat that has served us well.”

I researched a lot of car seats before deciding on this one. I bought it at Target, and by far it was the best purchase I have ever made for my daughter. In June of this year I was involved in a rear-end collision, the other driver was traveling at high speed (55+) and hit me while i was at a full stop....

I bought this car seat for 2 reasons:  Consumer Reports gave it a good rating and it was inexpensive.  I have been very dissapointed with this seat.  It is difficult to install tightly enough that it stays absolutely still and if you do manage to do that, it is nearly impossible to remove it from... review »

We have this carseat in both of our vehicles and we love it.  We've had it since our (now 3 year old) daughter was about 6 months old and we couldn't be happier. It's got a great 3 stage recline for when baby is rear facing, and it sits up nice and tall for when they switch to front facing.

The best part? The strap adjustment. The way that the straps adjust is phenomenal and it keeps you from having to bend back baby's arms in order to get them in behind the straps of the harness. These straps loosen and then re-tighten with the turn of a knob after baby is in and situated. The knob clicks and...

I would buy this car seat again. I bought it because it was highly rated on Consumer Reports and also fit my car well. While it is heavy and not the easiest to figure out and install, once it is installed it is very easy to adjust to get the child in and out. The straps are easy to loosen and tighten, which is not the case on our other car seat.

If you'll be moving your car seat from vehicle to vehicle a lot, this might not be the best choice. But if you'll pretty much install it and leave it put, this is excellent.

There was a recent recall because the styrofoam under the fabric could possibly be...

The Evenflo Triumph 5 car seat is definitely a good buy.  My son is now three and still using the seat.  He grew out of the infant carrier at about 6 months so we had to shop for a new car seat.  I checked consumer reports and this particular car seat had gotten a good review so I went to the store to look at this seat and a couple of others.  The thing that totally won my over is the fact that you can tighten the 5 point harness by turning a wheel on the side.  My son still had to face backwards in the car for 6 months and to be able to tighten the straps like that was fantastic.  I didn't... review »

I bought this carseat for my 2 1/2 year old son when he was a year old and he still loves it! We frequently travel 9 1/2 hours by car to visit with his grandparents, aunts, and uncles and he seems to stay pretty comfortable the whole time. One of the reasons I bought this seat was because, like Britax models, it tested well in crash tests, but was more affordable than the Britax seats. This was definately a good buy!!

We bought the Evenflo Triumph because we wanted to have one car seat for our son. We ended up buying another for his first year because this one didn't detach from the base as a carrier. Plus, it was pretty big for bringing a newborn home from the hospital. As he's gotten bigger, it's been better and better to use! He is so comfortable in it! It's a little big for our car and that worries me when we'll have to move it to behind a seat to add another for the next kiddo. It wobbles a bit, but I think that's because my car has a hump in the middle of the back seat and I can't get a flat base for it....

Where to begin, I can only rave about Evenflo Triumph 5  comfort touch convertible car seat.  I bought it at Target for my 1 year old son.  At the time the car seat seemed to large and I honestly hated that it was to heavy to move from car to car.  This spring we were driving back from visiting my in laws when we were in a terrible car accident.  At the time we were driving a minivan, we were hit from the back going 70mph.  My husband and I sustained numerous injuries while my  son did not have a single scratch on him.  When the paramedics arrived, they were stunned that he had not...

This is an excellent car seat and a great value!  We bought this carseat for our son when he was 12 months old and had outgrown his carrier, rear-facing seat and it has been great!  It is very plush and all of the fabric is removable and machine washable.  I have only a couple complaints and its about the pad.  The black fades to a blue/purple in the sun and the "pleather" accents easily tear.  I like the fact that it has multiple recline positions since it can be used as a rear facing seat for a 5 poung infant also.  I also like the quick release and tightening dial.  It also has a removable...

When I first got this car seat I thought it was reasonably easy to adjust and get my daughter in and out of. We started using the seat when she was about 14 months old. And then we traveled across the country and rented cars in several cities and received several different types of car seats - that's when I really learned how great this seat is. The straps adjust SO much more easily than other car seats and it's easy to install whther you use the LATCH system or if you just use the seat belt strap. I haven't had any problems getting the cover off for spot washing. The only con is that my daughet...

I absolutely love this car seat! My daughter outgrew her infant car seat in height so we decided to get her a convertible one. After doing a lot of shopping around and comparing, we decided to go with this car seat for several reasons. It's looks very sturdy, has create ratings, came highly recommended, is able to accomidate a tall child, can stay rear facing for quite awhile, not too expensive, and it looked very comfortable. I'm very happy with this purchase. My daughter loves it as well. She always looks so comfortable and is never fussy in it like she was her infant car seat. She has plenty...

About a year ago we bought a brown evenflow car seat. I have been really liking it in the brown color, my now two year old drops all kinds of snacks, and even when it gets dirty, you can't tell it's dirty by looking at it!.  The car seat also has an interesting way to adjust the restraint straps, which I love, it makes it easier then other car seats I have messed with! Also the evenflow car seat looks very comfortable, there is a lot of coushion in there, which makes me feel like my daughter is pretty safe, god forbid anything happen. I bought the evenflow car seat at Target, for a pretty fair...

I'm always confused when I read a review of this seat that says it's hard to use. I think it is bar none the easiest car seat to get baby into and out of. I will admit that if you are going to need to move the seat between multiple cars, this is probably not the seat for you. It is difficult to install, and in fact, I prefer to take it to the fire station and let them do it. But once it's in, it's not going anywhere. The knob on the side makes loosening and tightening the straps so easy you can do it in seconds every time baby goes into the seat. That means that different thicknesses of clothing... review »

I purchased this car seat as our second seat - I used a carrier seat for my child as an infant for convenience but this car seat can be used for very small children.  It is hard to adjust - even the firefighter who installed it said it was one of the tougher ones.  It can be tricky to learn how to really get it the harness adjusted around your child correctly and comfortably.  It is however very safe.  I do not have the LATCH system in my car and this is one of the safest using just lap belts.  I can get it in the car and make it so it will not budge at all.  It seems bulky especially if... review »

I bought this car seat because it was rated so well on Consumer Reports. I am very pleased with it! The one mistake I made was that, for my twins, I bought two seats with different covers. It turned out the one was an older model and the cover did not have the easy-off feature (I swapped that seat with my mom after she got two of these for her car). The newer model allows you to take off the cover without adjusting or removing anything but the cover! I like how I can easily adjust the straps while my boys are rear-facing. My boys love the room of these seats. I found the seats very easy to install.... review »
