Evenflo Triumph 5 Car Seat Review Summary

As a convertible car seat, the Evenflo Triumph 5 has received high safety ratings from Consumer Reports as well as high ratings from most Viewpoints reviewers. With it’s wider design, owners of the Triumph often state “that it is bulky but [my child] enjoys how much room he has.” So, be prepared to lift a hefty seat. Additional features of the triumph that reviewers enjoy are that it is “reasonably priced,” and “how easily the straps adjust“. As with other Evenflo car seats, the 5-point harness adjusts using a simple turning knob. Though this may be slightly difficult to figure out at first it is definitely a bonus for getting a snug fit. Many reviewers state it is “difficult to remove the cover” for cleaning and also mention their child “can get underneath the cover and kind of play with the Styrofoam.” The Triumph was recalled and updated for this specific reason so ensure your seat is a newer version prior to purchasing. Stated well by one reviewer “the Triumph 5 is a practical seat that has served us well.”

I would buy this car seat again. I bought it because it was highly rated on Consumer Reports and also fit my car well. While it is heavy and not the easiest to figure out and install, once it is installed it is very easy to adjust to get the child in and out. The straps are easy to loosen and… read full review »

I bought this car seat for 2 reasons:  Consumer Reports gave it a good rating and it was inexpensive.  I have been very dissapointed with this seat.  It is difficult to install tightly enough that it stays absolutely still and if you do manage to do that, it is nearly impossible to… read full review »

We have this carseat in both of our vehicles and we love it.  We've had it since our (now 3 year old) daughter was about 6 months old and we couldn't be happier. It's got a great 3 stage recline for when baby is rear facing, and it sits up nice and tall for when they switch to front facing. — The best part? The strap adjustment. The way that the straps adjust is phenomenal and it keeps you from having to bend back baby's arms in order to get them in behind the straps of the harness. These straps loosen and then re-tighten with the turn of a knob after baby is in and situated.… read full review »

I researched a lot of car seats before deciding on this one. I bought it at Target, and by far it was the best purchase I have ever made for my daughter. In June of this year I was involved in a rear-end collision, the other driver was traveling at high speed (55+) and hit me while i was at a full stop. The trunk of my car was inside the rear seat of my1997 Saturn and my daughters car seat didn't budge one inch! She was safe inside her car seat while my drivers seat broke from the impact! The firefighters that took my daughter out of the car stated that the Evenflo Truimph is one of… read full review »

I bought this carseat for my 2 1/2 year old son when he was a year old and he still loves it! We frequently travel 9 1/2 hours by car to visit with his grandparents, aunts, and uncles and he seems to stay pretty comfortable the whole time. One of the reasons I bought this seat was because, like Britax models, it tested well in crash tests, but was more affordable than the Britax seats. This was definately a good… read full review »

When I first got this car seat I thought it was reasonably easy to adjust and get my daughter in and out of. We started using the seat when she was about 14 months old. And then we traveled across the country and rented cars in several cities and received several different types of car seats - that's when I really learned how great this seat is. The straps adjust SO much more easily than other car seats and it's easy to install whther you use the LATCH system or if you just use the seat belt strap. I haven't had any problems getting the cover off for spot washing. The only con is that my… read full review »

I purchased this car seat as our second seat - I used a carrier seat for my child as an infant for convenience but this car seat can be used for very small children.  It is hard to adjust - even the firefighter who installed it said it was one of the tougher ones.  It can be tricky to learn how to really get it the harness adjusted around your child correctly and comfortably.  It is however very safe.  I do not have the LATCH system in my car and this is one of the safest using just lap belts.  I can get it in the car and make it so it will not budge at all.  It… read full review »

I bought this car seat because it was rated so well on Consumer Reports. I am very pleased with it! The one mistake I made was that, for my twins, I bought two seats with different covers. It turned out the one was an older model and the cover did not have the easy-off feature (I swapped that seat with my mom after she got two of these for her car). The newer model allows you to take off the cover without adjusting or removing anything but the cover! I like how I can easily adjust the straps while my boys are rear-facing. My boys love the room of these seats. I found the seats very easy to… read full review »

We have 3 of these car seats and just love them. We call it my son's throne. He is very comfortable in it and falls asleep on car rides. It continues to fit well as he grows. The cover is a bit of a pain to remove and cleaning the Cheerios out of the seat can be difficult. But the comfort and safety features far outweigh the inconvenience factor for us. We started using this when our son was 7 months old and was too big for his infant carrier. We liked how it reclined when it was rear facing. The reclinabilty is still adjustable in the forward-position, but in our SUV, it doesn't go… read full review »

I think this is the best car seat that is available.  I have had many in the years that I have been a parent.  This car seat is a great value with lots of great features.  I love that you can adjust it very easily while in a rear facing position.  Just turn the knobs.  I also like that you can adjust the height of the straps without taking out the seat.  I have having to always reinstall a seat so this is awesome to me.  I know that people throw around Britax being the best but lets face it not everyone can afford one.  I think this is the best option… read full review »

!!!!!!Sorry I clicked to wrong one the one I am talking about is the booster seat I think it is the Victory or something. SORRY!!!!!!!!!     This car seat is easy to install and fairly easy to use, it also has a pretty good price at around $70. It does have its downfalls though, the 5 pt harness adjuster is right in front on the strap, it gets in the way a lot. My child also likes to wrap the extra strap around their wrist. It also only holds the child in the 5 pt harness to 40 lbs. There are now seats out there that hold them to 65 lbs and 80 lbs in a 5 point harness. But… read full review »

I thought when buying this car seat I was going to be so in love with it it just looked so comfortable for my son and I just threw it in the buggy not caring about the cost! I should have stopped there!!!! This car seat is the heaviest car seat i have ever lifted and it is the only one we have so we have to switch it back and forth from car to car all of the time and when it is rear facing my hand can barely fit through the slot to latch the seat belt it is very aggrivating I want another one soon and we have only had it a year and he is almost outgrown it which means mu husband will have to… read full review »

I went to all of our local stores, trying to find the right car seat for my 5 month old daughter. She couldn't sit up on her own yet, but she was so tall that she couldn't fit in the infant car seat anymore. We had to find her a bigger car seat, but I wanted one that reclined like the infant car seat, so that she would be comfortable, and not be falling forward. The Triumph reclines the farthest and it is make of a microfiber material, so that when she had an accident, all I had to do is remove the liner and rinse it off in the sink, stains just rinse off. It has worked perfect. The straps… read full review »

As a new mom I really did not know what to look for in car seats. My brother purchased an Evenflow carseat for his daughter and I seen all the neat gadgets, such as, a cupholder, five pt. harness, and adjustable straps, I wanted one. Now my daughter has one and seems comfortable. She has armreasts and loves to keep her "Mimi" (cup) close to her. I definately would reccomend this to any one with toddlers, especially one like mine who throws her cup at the back at my head when she is done with it and realizes she has no place to sit it. Now I can rest assure. Evenflow Car Seats are true… read full review »

This car seat is by far one of my favs. I had the same version only 8 years ago... Now with more kids and needing newer seats I went back to this same brand and style. I wouldn't buy anyother one. We now have bought two of these seats one for my daughter who is now 2 1/2 and the other we just purchased for our 9 month old. We have used a carrier but I am ready to have one in the car for good. Our girls love the fact that they sit up higher in the car and can see out the windows.  It is also very comfy for them to take naps on short and long road trips.… read full review »
