Not Bad, Not Great

4

We were given the Evenflo Snugli Hug as a hand me down from a friend when we were expecting our daughter. We started using it when she was very young, mostly to allow me to get things done when she wanted to be held constantly. Because she was a winter baby in New England I also really appreciated it for getting out of the house and starting to get myself moving again. It allowed me to bundle her up and that combined with being in contact with my body heat and with my jacket zippered around her kept her toasty warm even on cold days. She always seemed very comfortable in it and often went right to sleep. The reason I gave it a 7 is that since then I have just found options that I think are a better and easier to use carrier, at least for us. We did use this consistently though until we got a different type of carrier when she was about seven months old and her weight in the Snugli was starting to hurt my back after an hour or so. I do think that it is a good and affordable option especially for infants or when you won't be using it for more than an hour or so.

Inexpensive but uncomfortable

We got this secondhand in a box of clothes that a friend gave us when our baby girl was born. It was great when she was a newborn. She would face inside and lay her head on my chest and just lay or sleep and be happy while I worked around the house or out and about. I have seen parents still using this with one and two year olds, but they look pretty awkward. Now that the baby is seven months old, she wants to face outward and interact while I do chores, not just lay there. Her hips and spine are at an uncomfortable angle, so much so that I don't put her in it anymore and I am planning to replacing with something better for her growing body. I am perfectly happy to wear my baby, but I'm not going to do so at the expense of the healthy growth of her bones. I developed pretty terrible posture during my pregnancy, and this product does not help. The straps do cross across the back to give a little less pressure on the shoulders, but I still feel slumped over and top heavy. I'm going to get an ERGObaby carrier as soon as they go on sale.

Great carrier to get things done at home!

I was surprised that I enjoyed this carrier!  I received this carrier as a gift and was unsure at first if I would enjoy using it and realized that it is a lifesaver. I do not use the carrier out and about very much, but I use it at home quite often.  My little girl loves to be held, but holding her a lot means that I cannot keep up on the housework or other things that I need to get done that require two hands.  Using the Snugli carrier means that I can do dishes, make the bed, vacuum, fold laundry all while carrying my daughter hands free. This carrier is soft and comfortable for my daughter and she loves to look around while being carried in it.  I thought she would feel unsafe in the carrier but she does not cry at all in it.  The head support is great for young infants and the straps are comfortable for mom or dad as well. I have plans to use this carrier this spring and summer as my husband and I travel more with our daughter!

The Snugli carrier is a staple for any new mother.

I used a Snugli with my first daughter seventeen years ago and found it to be lifesaver.  My daughter was collicky and I couldn't get anything done sometimes without strapping her to me.  The only downside is that she would sleep the whole time she was in it and I was afraid that would get her schedule off.   Fast forward to the present when I have restarted with a second family.  The Snugli design hasn't changed all that much and it's still a lifesaver.  I have used it with both my sons until they are just too heavy to carry.  I like to use it when I go shopping with a newborn because I can keep them close to me and away from everyone elses germs and have my hands free to do other things.   Baby B'Jorn seems to be a really popular brand however, the Snugli is the only brand I have ever tried.  It serves it's purpose and is a lot more reasonably priced.  It seems like such a waste to spend so much on baby items that will only be used for a limited time.

Evenflo Snugli - Great Product!

5

The Evenflo Snugli carrier was one of our "must have" items on our baby registry. I knew it would make life so much easier having the baby carrier. It's great that it is a front and back carrier - that means that my husband can use it to carry our baby once she's older and able to go on his back. I like that it has three ways to carry baby - front facing you, front facing out, and on your back so that it is usable for much longer as baby gets bigger. The first time putting it on took me a while to work out the clips and latches, but it's so easy now. The instruction manual comes with great, clear pictures that really helped. The breathable vents are very helpful to prevent me (and baby) from getting too warm. It feels safe and secure even when baby is moving around in it. It's comfortable enough for our baby that 9 times out of 10 she falls asleep in it. I'm able to get so much more done now that I have this and put her in it. A lifesaver for my task list!

We have had a snugli for both our children. I love the price and the ability to carry small children with you and still have your hands free.  Both my children would love it and could fall asleep when we were out and about and I had the peace of mind knowing they were safe and close.  I have read that some people had a problem with the leg holes being too small for legs to fit through but I have had skinny children and never noticed any problem with them fitting into the harness or having any tight issues around the thighs.  I personally prefered the carrier when the baby was small enough to face the parent (not facing outward).  I primarily used this around the house and out and about (parks, festivals, etc).  I love the front zipper pouch (perfect for carrying pacifiers or small burp cloths, etc).  The only difficult part was getting used to picking things up if they fell.  I had to squat and try and reach something while the baby was in the harness.
