This pump was purchased for use when I was ready to have my first child.  Now, when my daughter is only 5 1/2 months old, it has died.  To be fair, this could be the result of my error.  In taking the pump apart, there is a button to push to release the bottle and horns from the pump itself and on more than one occasion I either forgot to push the button or didn't push it well enough, while I did not do this extremely often, the machine can apparently only take so much and a small piece which holds the parts in began to break.  Although it did not break off completely, it did hinder the parts from being snapped in correctly.  It was directly after noticing this broken piece that the pump as a whole began to malfunction.

As I began to use the pump the other day, the suction quit working properly.  I fiddled with it many times, doing the usual "fixes" but nothing worked.  After about 15 minutes, it began to work again, without explanation.  Not wanting to rely on a pump which was clearly beginning to become unreliable, I caved and purchased a different pump.

All that being said, this pump did work well enough for me until the day it died (which, again, I am not completely positive is not a result of user error).  The power of the suction wasn't amazing - I have discovered I am producing much more with my new pump.  However, for the fact that this is the least expensive electric breast pump available, I would say you get your money's worth.

It is easy to put together and take apart.  All parts are easy to clean.  The accompanying tote bad could use a bit more space, but it does get the job done.  There is one piece, the overflow valve, which is simply dropped in to the horn to keep the milk from flowing into the pump.  This tiny piece was the bane of my existence.  It is a cylinder about one inch long and a half inch in diameter.  As it does not snap into place, it falls out VERY easily.  Thus, in the bustle of getting the pump put together or taking it apart for cleaning, this valve would very easily slip out, roll away, slip down the drain, etc.  This was particularly frustrating.  In one instance, while using this pump on the road (it functions on batteries, which is a plus), I lost this tiny blue piece somewhere in the car and could not find it.

The above issue with the blue piece did lead me to an encounter with Evenflo's customer service, with whom I am very pleased.  Upon explaining my problem, the customer service agent with whom I was corresponding promptly put a set of replacement parts in the mail to me, free of charge.  I was particularly impressed with this fact being that I had no way of producing a warranty or even proof of purchase as I was not the original purchaser of the pump (although I was the first user!).  However, this did leave me with only a single pump for the week during which I waited for the issue to be taken care of and my parts to arrive in the mail.

One final issue I did not like about the pump, which I did not realize I disliked so much until I moved up in the world pump-wise, was the tube connecting the two sides of the pump.  It was very flexible, which was nice, but the ends were also very flexible and, thus, made it difficult at times to actually connect it to the pump and to verify if this was the reason the pump did not have proper suction (as with all pumps, I imagine, suction is sometimes an issue but is usually fixed quickly once the problem is discovered).

Overall, I would say that for the price, this pump works fairly well.  Take caution to be extra careful when taking the pump apart and it may work fine for you the rest of your days.  If you're still unsure, shell out the extra $20 for The First Years MiPump, which was my alternate choice when this one bought the farm.  This pump has been like a breath of fresh air to me.  I didn't know what I was missing :)
