During this past pregnancy with my second little man, I began reading more and more about people using glass baby bottles due to concerns with plastic ones. Knowing I would need to purchase more bottles for my son, I did a little research. One of the most recommended glass baby bottles was the Evenflo Clear Glass Nurser and it was considerably cheaper than other bottles on the market.

Back to the Classics
Back in the day glass baby bottles was all that was available. Now, up until a few months ago, the Evenflo Glass Nursers were some of the only glass bottles available. With all of the fears surrounding polycarbonate plastics (having a chemical that supposedly can leach into baby’s milk), there are two ways to go -glass bottles or BPA-free bottles. For $7 I purchased three 4 oz glass bottles from Amazon, which is more than a third of the price I would have paid for the BPA-free bottles from other companies. The glass bottles are available in 8 oz size as well.

Evenflo‘s Glass Baby Bottles have a traditional babby bottle look and feel sporting a narrow opening and slim design. I had to get used to this as I was familiar with Avent bottles with my first. Included is a silicone nipple - regardless of what the picture online looks like - which is fairly soft as well as small in comparison to Avent. Evenflo only has 2 different nipples available for the glass nurser, a slow and a fast. Don’t let the slow fool you as it comes out pretty well. We haven’t started with the fast yet, and probably won’t need to for quite a while.

Evenflo also includes a cap for the nipple as well as a sealing disk for easily transporting milk in the bottle. The only negative I would have to say about these bottles is the plastic nipple ring/collar seems almost too soft where it is flimsy.

I can see the shards of glass now...
This is the fear I had when looking at glass bottles since I have a two year old in the house as well. Not to fear with Evenflo. The glass used is a shatter resistant glass and feels very sturdy. Though the bottles are heavier that the plastic ones we use they just feel like there would be no breakage if it was hurled to the floor, as we know all babies are good at.

Works for Us
Unfortunately my son needs to be bottle fed while I am a work during the day, which means I am not usually the one who bottle feeds as.... well I have better equipment for the job. So I had to ask our nanny how well Baby Z takes the glass bottle in comparison to the Avent bottles we also have. Her statement was that he tends to eat faster using the Evenflo bottles. She tends to use them when she is running shot on time. Although these have no specific anti-colic features, my son has very little issues with gassiness or spit up when drinking from these bottles. Truthfully he has more problems when I feed him then when using bottles.

In addition, The Evenflo Glass Baby Bottles are extremely easy to wash as the milk film just comes right off. Environmentally friendly and chemical free, the Evenflo Clear Glass Nurser is a great choice for anyone looking for baby bottles.

Great info on the review. I didn't know glass bottles were available. I can relate to have children of different ages.

Excellent review, the information on shatterproof is key, as that would be my first and foremost concern.

Excellent review as always. I think you meant to say "Baby" in the title but it came out "Bbay". Just a heads up. :)
