why do we have to pay extremely high prices to put our beloved pet of 5 to 15 or more to sleep. we shouldnt have to pay to put our friends to sleep. vets should have more sympathy for us. Vet's trying to play god with your pet ending up killing you.

I believe Vet's are trying to play god with our beloved animals and companions. Herein lies the problem. I believe you should do what you can to help you pets acheive a healthy and happy life, but when the costs are getting so high you can't buy food for it then it has gone too far. An awesome vet told me one time that you have to unfortunately think of having a pet as a business. This means that you have to look at the bottom line is whatever procedure goiing to fix my pet without diminishing its quality of life or is this going to fix it for the time being and then you have additional surgeries... read full review »

Some Vets actually DO care...

I have had many, many pets over my 30 years of life. Whether the life span of the pet is long or short, deciding to have to euthanize a pet is always one of the hardest decisions to make. I strongly believe there are numerous animal hospitals that put the pet as #1 priority. I have worked at one, and gone to one other. I feel as though a vet needs to tell an owner exactly what is going to happen, and to make sure the owners can be in the room. I cannot believe some places will not allow that! Some vet offices also use a calming drug before they start the euthaniasia, which makes it alot more comfortable... read full review »

I had kitties that were poisoned with antifreeze.  I came home to find my kitties couldn't walk.  Every time they tried to walk, their legs would flail out and they'ld land on their belly.  They also puked up a white foamy substance.  After taking to the vet, it was found they had gotten antifreeze poisoning.  It became a waiting game.  Their kidneys would inevitably shut down and cause their death.  We did try to give Lasix thru an IV to flush the antifreeze out.  It just didn't work so after two of my kitties died at the vet, I took the others home.  I thought the remaining kitties were... read full review »

This is one subject I have thought about quite a bit lately. I am probably more attached to my chihuahua than most people.He IS really like a child to me.My life revolves around him.I plan my days with him in mind.I owe thousands of dollars due to high vet prices.He suddenly started having seizures almost 2 years ago and didn't know why.He has to visit the vet every 6 months to monitor his phenobarbital level and sometimes have to visit more often due to another problem coming up.Last year I had to take him in to have his teeth removed due to a dental disease.That procedure alone was almost $1000.Thats... read full review »

The decision of euthanasia is never an easy decision. When we open our door and welcome them into our homes and except them as a family member, the decision to let them go is no different than making that choice for our human family member. They find their way into our hearts with little effort. They provide comfort to us when we are feeling down and provide laughter to us when we don't expect it. To say this decision would be easy, is far from the truth.

I believe that part of being a responsible pet owner means that you will eventually have to make the very difficult decision to end your pet's life. I have two adorable dogs that bring so much happiness to my life that I could never let them suffer because I don't want to let them go. A few months ago I had to have my sweet yorkie euthanized.
