Eureka Vacuum - Optima - Lightweight Bagless Upright Vacuum - 431A — 

I got this to replace an old Shark cordless stick vacuum and was initially disappointed that the Optima wasn't cordless, as well.  The disappointment faded very quickly.  The Optima is amazing on hard floors (we have hardwood in all but one room in the house) and surprisingly good on carpet.  I love that you can turn off the brush when you don't need it.  It also does a great job of picking up things from the front and sides.  It actually gets things that are under the baseboards!  Highly recommended!!!
