I needed another vacuum! Not a high quality one, just one that worked and would last through the kids using it! I'm not kidding; my kids can somehow break, destroy or plug up ANY vacuum within a very short time. Not one to give up (or take over cleaning their rooms) I made my Dyson off limits and started buying one for their rooms and upstairs hallways. I soon found out it needed to be bag less and without accessories that could (and would) be broke, bent or lost! I found just what I was looking for with Eureka's the Boss Super Lite model.
HOW GREAT IS IT?
There are a lot of good things about this vacuum which explains why the box proudly states #1 selling Vacuum in America on all four sides! I think the easiest way to go over my likes and dislikes would be to just list them so I will. LIKES
1. The weight At less than 8 pounds it is easy to pick up or move when needed. It also makes it easy to vacuum up our Spiral stairs, which can be a real pain with something heavier! The lightweight also makes it easier and faster for the kids - there is no lugging it out or the complaining that would come with it! :-)
2. No bags I love the no bag idea and really wouldn't buy a vacuum that used bags. They are a pain to change, often throwing dust everywhere. Not to mention extra bags need to be kept on hand which is NOT a strong suit of mine!
3. On/Off brush roll This is really important in our house as most of the rooms have wood floors with large area rugs. The Boss can go from carpet to bare floor with a simple switch.
4. Telescopic handle this is nice as it can fit smaller person and then be easily move up to fit MOST adults - see dislikes below. It also is nice to have the handle down low when doing the stairs.
5. Works well This vacuum does a really good job. In fact, I was actually surprised at how much it was able to pick up just a day after the floors had already been vacuumed! The dust cup is easy to remove and empty. The filter can be removed and washed, or brushed off and rinsed clean.
6. Cost I was able to pick this up at my local Wal-Mart for less than $35. We have used it for three months and so far - so good! Even the filter has lasted through weekly rinse outs.
DISLIKES
1. Going forward I know this sounds a bit odd for some odd reason, this baby can be VERY difficult to push forward! It works amazingly well backwards but when you then try to push it forward, it will stick. You then have to either lift it up a little and move it a bit on just the wheels and it will work fine again. The other option which my one daughter does, is simply lift it up and move it to the edge of the rug and continue vacuuming backwards! LOL
2. Telescopic handle The same one listed above. The trouble is even at its highest length, it is not high enough for someone tall to use without having to lean over some. This isn't just true with my son (at 6'4") but also at 5'8"; I would like to have it a bit higher too.
Kristy's final viewpoint:
So that's it, 6 likes and 2 dislikes. Since the cost and the fact it actually works are both on the likes list, I'd say it was a good choice.
