Eureka Customer Service is the WORST

1

This vacuum (the power paw attachment to be specific) destroyed part of our new carpet. We contacted Eureka immediately and they assured us that they would replace the damaged carpet. That was in June and it is now December. No one returns calls and they are the most inept people ever. If you do buy a Eureka, pray nothing goes wrong because you will NEVER get anywhere dealing with their abysmal customer service department!

I love my Eureka and would replace with the same model

One fast statement about why I only gave this Eureka 4 stars rather than 5. I believe that the container that stores the dirt has lost its seal, and I'm at a loss as to what to do about it. I may give them a call, because I have been pleased with this model for at least 8 years and would gladly repurchase the same model again if need be. It was affordable, and I'm not sure if one of the expensive Dyson models would perform any better than this one has for me. Things I love: This vacuum has all of the parts stashed right there, so when I'm thinking "I need to clean that light fixture soon" it's very simple to just do it immediately. I have mostly hardwood, with lots of rugs, so when I vacuum and s ome of the sand bounces off the rug onto the floor, it's very quick and easy to flip a switch and use the hand tools to get the runaway sand. My model includes the Power Paw attachment, but it also says 4D Cleaning on it. It's yellow, not red like the other model that I saw pictured here that mentioned 4D and pets. I may post a photo of Old Betsy, or I should call her Old Reliable. The power paw is like an upholstery tool, but the bristles rotate just like on the main vacuum. There's an onboard HEPA filter. I have purchased replacements easily online. I like that, because I live in a small town and don't like running from store to store and guessing if I'm buying the correct part. Just hold onto the booklet that comes with your vacuum. It lists all the parts and their numbers. Cons : You have to empty the dirt cannister often. I empty it after every use. My dad's dog sheds so much (and he goes so long in between vacuums) that he has to empty his 3 times or more. It's quite heavy, and I do have a basement and an upstairs to haul this to.

Sucks up everything in a 6-foot radius, but weighs a ton.

I'm not sure whether I love this or hate it.  On the one hand, it really picks up.  I mean, it is like a tornado, sucking up everything in its path, or even around it.  I can literally SEE particles on the floor that are 2 or 3 feet away from it start bouncing on my carpet, from the pull of the suction.  Cats get very nervous when this thing is turned on.  I love the fact that it really picks up all the dirt, and even fine pet hair.  On the other hand, I don't even know how much this thing weighs because I can't pick it up.  It's very, very heavy.  I can't take it upstairs to clean.  I have to wait until my husband gets home to haul the thing up the stairs.  And actually cleaning the carpeted stairs is out of the question, due to its extreme weight.  And, because it is so heavy, it can be exhausting to use.  On the other hand, you don't have to vacuum very much because it picks up so effectively.

It's an inexpensive vacuum...and you get what you pay for!

When they say vacuum cleaners suck, I didn't think they were talking about the way I would describe this vacuum cleaner. It really does suck, but not in a positive way. I bought this vacuum about five months ago to replace a panasonic upright I had for thirteen years before it finally died one day (boy do I miss that vacuum). I didn't have alot of money to spend, so the Eureka Boss seemed like a great deal since it was a great price and was the Paw version which was suppossed to be great for vacuuming pet hair. All I can say is... What a joke this vacuum cleaner is! Yes it was an inexpensive vacuum cleaner, and I got exactly what I paid for! This vacuum cleaner gets clogged everytime I use it. So instead of vacuuming I have to waste time taking the hose off to trying to unclog it(if I can even figure out where the clog is). Considering that it is supposed to be for pet hair, there is a real design flaw in the small size of the intake hole that allows the hair and dirt to reach the bag. I truly hate this vacuum cleaner, and if I had the money to replace it with a different vacuum I would! But unfortunately I do not, so I am now stuck with a vacuum cleaner that never has good suction(so it never does a great job of cleaning my floors), makes my blood pressure t rise, and causes me to curse like a sailor! This vacuum is time consuming since it doubles my vacuuming time due to having to disassemble it to find the clog everytime I use it! My advice would be to skip this vacuum, and pay a little more for a vacuum that will work properly. If I could have given it less than one star I would have.

I chose it over a big vacuum

I have had my Eureka Optima Bagless Upright Vacuum (Model 437) for over 4 years, and I still love it.  When my husband and I got married and merged our households 3 years ago, I had the option of using his big powerhorse vacuum instead.  I tried it...then relegated it to a back closet until we gave it away! My Eureka vacuum is preferable because it is so lightweight (as far as good vacuums go) and gets the job done.  I love that the HEPA filter traps so much dust and junk from the carpets.  I appreciate the option of using the roller brushes on carpets or keeping them off to do hard floors ( I do both every week).  The hand tools/hose attachments are all very useful - just today I used the long attachment to get under the couch and the PowerPaw to tackle the couch. When the filter looks coated, I disassemble right beside my trash can, dump in the debris from the canister, and take the filter outside with a tiny broom to brush it off.  It's best to do this close to the ground and to change directions according to wind direction.  Then I pop everything back together and it's good to go! I've never had problems with clogging.

Never thought it would last.

I never thought that such a small vacuum could pick up so much stuff.  I love the bagless feature and that the handle come out to a comfortable length for me.  The cord is a great length for an apartment and even in a regular house you would not have to move the cord to often.  I love it.

Major Design Flaw

Do not buy this vacuum cleaner.  The intake hole (where debris empties into the cansiter) is way too close to the filter and debris **especially hair** gets trapped between the filter and doesn't fall down into the cansiter.  This creates a blockage that backs up into the hose which constantly needs to be cleared.  I had to take the cansiter off and clean out debris **7 times** just vacuuming my bedroom!  Otherwise, the suction isn't all that great, but what do you expect for low end.  I have also heard of people having problems with the belt on this not lasting more then a month (wouldn't know myself as I never got past 1 room).  Also, the whole duster thing is bogus ... it doesn't work.  It is just a pretty detail. This is a good idea, but very poor design.  I can't believe Eureka didn't QA this and yet they let it on the market.  Well, it is a Wal Mart item so what the heck, right?  Good luck returning it when after a month the pretty color and idea that it is the ultimate pet picker-uper with duster on-board too (oh boy!) wears off and you realize this thing isn't cleaning your carpets.

Not a fan

I read reviews on the Eureka The Boss Power plus vaccume, and was pleased with the reviews, so I went and bought it. The price was good and in my range. The product however is very poor. I do not know if I have a defective one, but when I am cleaning the rugs stuff is shooting back out at me from under the vac. I have tried to see where it is coming from but can not find the exact spot.  I have to re-do each section of the rug over and over agin until I just give up!  If I go through and do the rugs with the tools nothing shoots out.

low price but does a great job

The Eureka upright was the cheapest one at WalMart. I bought it as a temporary vac. to use before I moved. This vac. is great! Although the cord is a little short and the dust bin has to be dumped pretty often, the vac picks up better than any vac I've ever used. I highly recommend it.

clogs easily and NOISY!!

I bought this to replace another Eureka that I had liked. Everytime I use this, I have to take it fully apart and clean it. Hair gets tangled in the filters( my daughter has long hair) and the dust backs up behind it. The power paw attachment broke the 3rd time I used it. The vacuum is also quite noisy- I'm looking for a new vacuum this weekend!
