Eureka Optima Pet Lover 439AZ Bagless Upright Vacuum —

Anyone that has read my reviews here on Viewpoints knows that I'm constantly looking for a good floor vacuuming solution. I was pretty happy with my Swivel Sweeper for my Pergo floors, but my regular vacuum cleaner broke, and I needed to replace that. It should be noted again that most of my house is Pergo, the bathrooms and foyer are tile, and that only two of the bedrooms are carpeted. I don't have use for a nice vacuum cleaner.

What I've always wished for was some type of vacuum that would handle all my floors. Sure, a really nice vacuum could do the non-carpeted areas, as well as the carpet, but is that necessary? And I like items such as the Swivel Sweeper that are light enough that I can haul them out to sweep my floors every day. I think I may have backed into a solution finally.

We had cleaned the old Dirt Devil as much as we could, and it still wasn't picking up. We could get it fixed for $40 or so, but what was the point if I could get a replacement for not too much more than that? I set out to see if I could get that vacuum replaced. I found a newer Dirt Devil on sale for $70 at Super Target and really liked it, but kept searching just in case. Then I found it.

I found the cheapest vacuum cleaner at Super Target that would cover both carpeting and my hard floors. Eureka! Or Eureka Optima 431F, to be exact. It's a smaller vacuum, that keeps it nice and light. It's less than twelve pounds, yet still has a 12-amp motor. Plus, it was on sale for $10 off, meaning I was getting it for just under $50. It would do all my floors, would be light enough to get out every day and walk up and down the stairs with, and it's less than $50. Sold.

So what type of job does it do? No bad. It's not the greatest vacuum I've had, but I'm not looking for that. I'm just looking for something to take care of all my floors. It does kind of blow the dog hair clumps around sometimes, meaning I have to chase a few down, but I'll take that for $50. It's a bagless system, and it empties from the top, although I wish it emptied from the bottom like the Dirt Devil, but for $50, that's okay.

Plus, it has an indicator for when the roller gets jammed up, so you don't have to turn it over and stick your face in there to check. So far it's been jammed twice, but being that I caught it right away because of the indicator, it's no worse for wear. It both situations it was long human hair, and not dog hair, and I know I'm picking up stuff that my Dirt Devil was just rolling over at the end. Another nice advantage in this is the round circle handle that's comfortable to hold onto, and that telescopes out to a comfortable height, and shrinks down to be stored away in smaller spaces.

I might have just backed into the right vacuum for me.
