Not a neat freak, a homeowner, willing to pay for quality, practical, a dog owner, hate vacuuming

I am not a neat freak, I really hate to clean...so I look for things to make cleaning easier and limit how often I have to do it. With two rambunctious dogs working against me at all times, that's easier said than done, but I still try:)

I had joined the whole bagless craze a few years ago, and had a decent vacuum, but I always felt that the dirt returned much too quickly. With a little help from Consumer Reports magazine, I was turned back on to bagged vacuums, especially for dealing with dog hair.

This vacuum was a top rated bagged vacuum, especially in dealing with pet hair, and I believe...

The Eureka "The Boss Smartvac" I have is dark green in color accented with yellow. We use to go through a lot of vacuums because of a single marble, matchbox car or who knows what it sucked up and died (the vacuum cleaner died, we don't own pets.) All of the attachments are clear so  you can see if there is anything stuck in there-paper, hair, the children's homework etc. It comes apart easy too so you can clean it out and presto-suction and a working vacuum cleaner again!

Carpet-Does a great job! I don't have to go over the carpet more than once or twice to clean it. It cleans tracked in sand...

I read lots of reviews and was scared to buy a new vacuum.  I had spent way too much on my last one and it was only average, at best, and then slowly lost power.  That seemed to be a theme with vacuums judging by the reviews I read.  This one seemed to have great reviews, so I bought it.  I have 3 kids, 2 dogs, and a very messy husband, so let's just say that this vacuum is put through its paces.  I've had it for about 8 months and am very happy with it!  It hasn't lost power and picks up dirt like no vacuum I have ever owned.  My kids even like to use it!  My only complaint is that I can't...

I bought this vaccuum from Costco because it was listed as a Best Buy in Consumer Reports...and cheap!  Turns out that it is great at picking up pet hair, as the review suggests.  The most common negative that I saw when researching this vaccuum was the heft of the product.  People reported that it was heavy.  I guess I feel that a heavy weight lets me know it's "gettin in there".  But I don't think it weighs too much at all.  Good luck and I hope that all dog owners get this vaccuum.  I've used the attachments a few times, but I honestly think the basic vaccuum works wonders on this product!...

I have owned a Eureka Boss Bagged upright vacuum for probably the last eight years and it has been one of the best vacuums I have ever owned. I just recently finally had to replace it but I wish I could have found another one just like it.  Even the last week I owned it it still picked up anything that came near it just as good as it did when it was new. I have never had  anything more than a few clogged hoses the entire time I have owned this vacuum.  It has always picked up items on the floor with ease ( even ones it wasn't suppose to) and has never let me down. Other vacuums I have had... review »

I have an earlier version of this vacuum but I just love it. I researched online until my hands were crippled and thought I would not be able to afford a really good upright until I found this one. It  tops any I have ever had for suction and ease of use. I will never own a vacuum that is bagless so this one suits me. I hate the mess of empting a bagless and my dust allergy hates it too. The floor or hose feature is easy to switch and there is great suction on both. My daughter is wanting a Dyson and can't really afford it. I am hoping to talk her into this one.

We were at our wits end with the dreaded "Pet Hair Takeover". We had purchased a bagless vacuum from another store and it it was horrible. I thought the days of having to stuff things into a vacuum were over but that's basically what happened. Well, just before the holidays were to start up, I knew that I could never have people over if they were just going to end up wearing our pets home so I called a freind to borrow her vacuum and on the day that I was going to go pick it up, my fiance said "we may as well just go get our own". He said that since K-mart and Sears were merged that K-mart would... review »

The Eureka 4870 is amazing. The machine is solid, and I was afraid I would have a hard time handling the Eureka 4870 . No way, it moves forward with a touch. And it does a great job picking up cat fur also. The Eureka 4870 also comes with cleaning attachments. The nesting wands make cleaning up after spiders almost effortless.

This is a great product for the money.  Good suction, good pull.  The accessories are not the most convenient.  But overall - there is a good reason for Consumer Reports ranking it high.  My mother has one.  When my old 'other brand' was stolen, I was secretly glad bc it meant I got to upgrade to the Boss.

I got my Eureka The Boss Smartvac a couple of years ago. I have been through a series of vacuum cleaners, and grew progressively more cynical about the claims about their powers and durability. whe I gave up on my old vac, I decided to go online and see what others I chatted with on various forums had to say about their vacuum cleaners and what they recommended. I finally decided that this one sounded like what I wanted. an upright with lots and lots of vacuum power,  a wide track, easy access to the use of the hose for getting cobwebs etc. and easy to push around. I have allergies to the max,...

Eureka's TheBoss SmartVac is well built, very effective, and a great value. Bags are affordable as well. It's noisy but not too noisy. The handle release step button is quite stiff to operate. Floor height selector knob is helpful.  Vacuum may be too large to work well on stairs. I have owned it for nearly one year.

The Eureka Boss Smartvac Bagged Upright Vaccuum Cleaner has many pluses. It cleans well and it picks up pet hair well. It's very durable and lasts a long time. I once had to replace a belt but you can expect to do that with almost any vacuum cleaner. It has a nice headlight feature and replacing the bulbs is quick and easy. Most of all, it's inexpensive. I got mine on sale for less than a hundred bucks and it's still going strong.

There are a couple of points that might not make it right for everyone. The vacuum is heavy so if you are older or have a physical disability, you may want to investigate...

This is a good bargain.  I've been happy with it's performance and feel it was well worth the money.  Only had one problem and it was completely covered under the warranty.  Just took it to an authorized dealer near my home and it was fixed without question.  Consumer Reports rates this model high.

The vacuum is amazing.  A bit noisy but the suction is great.  Its easy to use the attachments, but I wish there was a place for all of them, not just the hoses.  Easy to replace the bags and air filter.  I think I like the air filter the best.  It truly cuts the dust going back into the house.
