Amazing suction!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We were desperate for a new vacuum but didn't have $400 to dish out on a Dyson. But then I started doing some research and found that the Eureka Smartvac actually beat the Dyson in a lot of tests! I was super excited and we bought it right away. We have had it about 3 years now and still love it. It does have amazing suction. I still remember one of the first times I used it was vacuuming up little pieces from a Christmas ornament that had shattered. When I was vacuuming it, the pieces like a foot away were vibrating. I was so amazed! It has held up rather well over the years. We use it a number of times everyday and it is still running. We have talked about a new one just because ...

We are please with our Eureka The Boss Smartvac

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We have been pleased with our Eureka The Boss Smartvac.  It is not too heavy.  It has a hose and a hose setting on the vacuum, so when you want to use the hose, you turn the knob to the "Hose" setting and the floor setting to "Hard Floors"  We had issues with the vacuum at first using the hose, because I did not know that the floor setting should be set to "Hard Floors" when using the hose, so the brushes would still turn when the top knob setting was turned to "Hose" (which I think should not be so, but I have gotten used to this illogical thinking by now).  I also appreciate that the vacuum has a HEPA filter.  We have allergies in our family, so every little bit he...

Tough on dirt and tough to use!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We always have a large hairy dog or two and I kill vacuums on a regular basis so I need a tough one. Have only had this a couple of months so I don't know how sturdy it is but it sure can pick up the dirt and hair! I chose a bagged vacuum this time around because I use mine daily and the bagless got filthy and created extra work for me. The Arm & Hammer bags do seem to keep the blow back and odors to a minimum, a big plus around here. My only "complaint" is the machine is heavy and it's hard to change the floor settings and to go from floor to hose. It takes longer to do even one room completely than I am used to. For our needs, the trade off is worth it, though.

The Eureka Boss Vacuum Cleaner is a household workhorse.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I have been using the Eureka Boss Vacuum Cleaner in my apartment for the past four years and this model has been a good workhorse for me. The settings allow you to adjust the brush depth for floors, indoor outdoor carpeting and rugs, regular carpeting and deep pile carpeting. I have never had a problem with suction with this model. The belt and the bag are easily replaced and that's another feature that I Iike a lot. The only criticism I have of this model is that it is not a light weight model and can not be carried easily by my wife. That means that cleaning the covered stairways are my job. The Eureka Boss does have a hose and attachment for doing cushions, walls, moldings, and hard to re...

Replaced an Older one of the same

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

About 10 years ago Consumer Reports gave the Eureka Boss Smart Vac a recommended rating. My Hoover Wind Tunnel had gone belly up and the Eureka was a very affordable option. I bought two, one for upstairs and one for down and I really liked them. This past month, my two Eurekas both bit the bullet so again, it was time to replace. Back to Consumer Reports and again, after all this time, this vacuum is still recommended so I got two more. The old familiarity and reliability is still there, they work wonderfully but they have added another attachment which is a nice bonus. What I love about this vacuum is the price, the many attachments that all fit on the machine so they are readily ava...

Excellent pet vac!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I decided to replace my vacuum a couple of months ago because I am allergic to dogs (and have two) and I could tell my old vacuum wasn't picking up enough hair making my allergies really bad.  I researched a lot of vacuums geared towards pets and found that consumer reports recommended this one as the best bargain buy.  They actually felt it was better that the "over priced" Dyson Animal.  The Hoover Windtunnel I replaced was bagless and I have to say that I will NEVER go back to a bagless vacuum.  I feel like you get exposed to far more dust and allergens when you have to empty the canister vs. a bag and you have a bunch of filters that have to be replaced regularly with...

I did not know I had that much dust bunnies on my floor!!!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I recently bought the Eureka The Boss Smart Vac Vacuum. In fact I just bought it two days ago. My old vacuum was not getting the job done, I would vacuum the floor and notice lots of  specks on the floor, and needless to say my children's blackened feet from walking across the floor barefoot. Two days ago my old vacuum's belt broke, Eureka, I could Finlay get my husband to buy a new vacuum. I could have just replaced the belt, but it would have been a waste of money. Back on track, Two days ago I bought my Eureka The Boss Smart Vac Vacuum, and was eager to try it out. The vacuum was a little heavy but easy to maneuver. The cord was long enough that I did not have to switch plug-insto mo...

Don't waste your money

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

I had this vacuum for a year and just today tossed it in the dumpster after replacing it with a Shark brand vac. When I first bought it I did like it for a bit. The suction was great and it did a good job getting up the dirt. I also liked the dust wand and it gave my four year old something to do while I vacuumed. I didn't like how big and heavy it was and how much room to took up in the closet. It worked ok for 6 months or so and then started to clog and break down. Now a year later it would get very hot, the hose would get clogged and often fling out (very hazzardous), and it seemed to drop dirt back onto the floor as often as it would pick it up. Not good for something you would hope would last longer than a year. I decided to replace it both because I was tired of having to bring down the little stick vac from upstairs to pick up after it and because I was starting to have concerns over it's safety. Save yourself the trouble and go with a different vacuum.

Eureka Boss Smartvac is great!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Due to allergies we needed to buy a new HEPA filter vacuum.  We looked at many and with the reviews from Consumers Reports, we bought the 4870.  It has served us well for the last few years.  It picks up the hair from our constantly shedding terrier.  More importantly it moves from carpet to wood floors with ease.  The pick-up is great and the filtration works very well.  It has held up and performed so well, we bought another for the upstairs.  And that segways to a few negatives.  The vacuum is heavy.  It is only noticable when carrying it upstairs though.  The carpet to floor switch takes a bit of finess - meaning it can be a problem until...

Love the Eureka Boss!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I cannot give this vacuum enough praise. First of all, I have the worst shedding dog EVER, a little Jack Russell Terrier but you can literally brush her all day long and the hair will just keep coming off! I also have the worst kind of furniture to have with a shedding dog, micro suede. YIKES! Domino (my dog) likes to jump on the sofa when we aren't home sometimes, and I needed a vacuum to get up the embedded pet hair. I love that the Eureka has an extension specifically for pet hair. It really does get it all up! I had tried it all: tape, other vacuums (none of them came close, even when I used the extension), pet hair removers, rubber gloves (supposedly the hair sticks to the glove if you wipe whatever it is with your glove)....i LOVE this thing. I've had it for almost 2 years. If you don't want to shell out the big bucks for a Dyson animal vacuum, buy this! It's less than half the price and I think it does a great job!

Eureka 'The Boss' Vacuum really is the boss

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

This vacuum is the best vacuum I have ever used.  It will suck up anything (which is good, but be careful).  It has been really good for living with people who have long hair and doesn't usually have problems with it.  Sometimes the hair will clog up the rotor, but it's easy to cut off and it won't affect the vacuum at all.  I really like that the vacuum came with an extra belt and bag when you buy it.  It needs a bag change probably more than other vacuums, but that is mostly because it really gets things clean.  I don't have to worry about going over things over and over again with this vacuum.  The hose attachment is really easy to use and it is really long and has lots of different heads for it.  Everything stays on the vacuum so you never have to be anywhere without anything you need.  I would recommend this vacuum for anyone who is in need of one.  I got mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but I bet you could find it chepaer elsewhere.

Good Household Vacuum

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We have owned the Eureka The Boss Smartvac for several years and originally purchased it after reading the Consumer Reports report and seeing that this vacuum was named a "Best Buy." The vacuum does an excellent job of picking up dust, dirt and pet hair. We own two cats and even though I vacuum their sleeping/eatting area with a vacuum designated just for them, I sometimes re-vacuum the area with the Eureka and ride it picks up even more hair that the other vacuum left behind.

The Eureka Smartvac claims to have "The Only Sealed HEPA system", which is definitely a nice feature to have....to not have "clean particles" flying out the back of the vacuum at you. The vacuum has multiple height settings as well as a carpet versus floor dial.

The only two (minor) drawbacks of the vacuum is the relatively short hose for cleaning carpeted staircases and, as told to me by the salesperson, the cover over the bag can be tricky to get on and off and easily can snap.

Overall, a great vacuum.

eureka? Not a good choice for a family

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I purchased the Eureka Vacuum ,for the qualities that i have grown to love over the years, and the fact that it had the same extra's that the more expensive brands had. I thought it would be a great buy.

After a few weeks the filters started to clog, so i cleaned them as directed by the manuel. then the roller stuck, took apart cleaned as recommended. a month later the belt burnt up, At least they included another one when i bought it . Think they knew?

Phew hopefully i can finally vacuum my house that has 3 kids a dog and 2 busy adults.

my husband vacuums now there is DUST EVERYWHERE. that's it i am done. i gave my 2 year old the duster that it came with so i can at least g...

Smart vac for a smart clean

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

This carpet cleaner vaccuum is wonderful!  I just got it about a year ago and it totally deep cleans my carpets and rugs.  I have never had a vaccuum clean as well as this one.  The kids and pets can track in the heaviest dirt and it still will suck it up like lint!  It is awesome!  It is very easy to handle and extremely easy to use.  The handle on it doesn't slip around in your hands and the vaccuum is super easy to pivet and handle in hard to reach areas such as corners and in between furniture.  It keeps the water warm while using the shampoo portion and is very easy to clean and reuse after cleaning.  It comes apart super easy and heated up the water super fast.  I have had terrible stains in the carpet that I thought I would need a professional to clean, but after buying this cleaner, I no longer think that at all.  I just do it myself.  I highly recommend this vaccuum/shampooer to any household clean freak!

Cleans like a BOSS!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

My Eureka Boss Smart Vac was purchased to replace an 8yr old Dirt Devil that had seen better days.  My husband researched the purchase and decided on this vacuum from Consumer Reports and because it has the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.  I wanted a vacuum with bags because I HATE bagless vacuums! Everytime I would dump the dirt in the trash one of my children would come along and toss an apple in the garbage and POOF... cloud of dirt and dust exploding out of the trash can.  I prefer to keep all the dirt, cat fur and dried up Play-doh stored neatly in a vacuum bag, thank you.  This vacuum really works great, has excellent suction and cleans up cat fur very well. I l...
