I bought the Eureka Bagless Altima after our old Bissel bit the dust. I knew I needed something with a HEPA filter and preferred a bagless model. When I went to Wal-Mart, the selection was not the best, but I thought this vacuum looked like a good deal. I saw it had the Good Housekeeping seal of approval, so I figured it was good enough. — It was very easy to assemble. Once I plugged it in and got started vacuuming, I was impressed by the amount of suction it had. The dust cup filled up very quickly with pet hair and other debris my former vacuum had been unable to capture. When I…

Actually, I would like to rate it with no stars but am unable to. I received this vacuum cleaner for my Birthday last December. It is probably the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever used. It's very heavy, has low suction, is always clogged, throws more dirt around than it picks up & the duster wand is worthless. I have 3 cats and a dog and yes, there is a lot of pet hair, but.....I have never had the problems with other vacuum cleaners that I am experiencing with this one. I am throwing it out with the garbage. The manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves for producing and…

So long as I'm vacuuming carpet this unit worked just fine for me. Good suction, does a better job of picking up dirt than a pricey Sears canister vacuum I borrowed. — — However, this thing is worthless on tile and hardwood. It literally spreads the dirt around. Very annoying, but you can just leave it off. — — As another reviewer said, the washable foam filter does seem to get clogged pretty quick. The…

I went through two of these before I finally gave up. They both basically blew up on me.... and yes, I emptied the filters and everything like you're supposed to. They lost suction after using them the first time. And then when I tried to contact the company about it, they of course gave me the run-around until I finally just gave up. Please don't buy this vacuum, it is…

a homeowner, Mr. Fix-it
My wife got the Eureka Altima 2991 as a Christmas gift from out oldest son. At first it seemed great with all the cool attachments and gadgets and the whirlwind compartment. But after a few uses it became clogged. The hose fills full of dirt and debris and must be cleaned out constantly. Also the yellow funnel looking thing up inside of the dirt chamber has to be romoved and cleaned constantly. It has gone through several belts already. Now it has become so loud and noisey that we can hardly stand to use it. It is louder than most power tools. All of the vacuum cleaners we have owned…
