Eureka 431A Optima Light Weight Bagless Upright Vacuum Reviews

 The Eureka 431A Optima Vacuum is an amazing cleaning machine and has the Good Housekeeping Seal Of Approval.  I definitely agree with them. I bought one over a year ago for my kids to use upstairs in our huge brand new house which the upstairs is all carpet with the exception of the bathroom and I was amazed how my 9 yr old could make the carpet look so good. I have never ever owned a vacuum that doesn't perform at all.  You must empty it with each room you vacuum.  The entire filter must be brushed out with something like a small toothbrush.  So there you are having to stop what you're doing to empty the plastic container with dust & bacteria escaping all over the place and no way to properly clean the filter.  Unfortunately I didn't return it within the  30 days so I'm stuck with this piece of junk.  No more Eurekas for me.  I had a more expensive one prior to this one and also had tons of problems with it for… read full review »

I got this to replace an old Shark cordless stick vacuum and was initially disappointed that the Optima wasn't cordless, as well.  The disappointment faded very quickly.  The Optima is amazing on hard floors (we have hardwood in all but one room in the house) and surprisingly good on carpet.  I love that you can turn off the brush when you don't need it.  It also does a great job of picking up things from the front and sides.  It actually gets things that are under the baseboards!  Highly… read full review »

You get what you pay for.  Or, in this case, you get even LESS than you pay for.  It seemed like such a good idea -- an affordable, lightweight vacuum for our not-so-big upstairs area.  We wouldn't have to lug a vacuum up and down and it would be so much more convenient for small messes.  Wrong, wrong wrong wrong wrong.  For the price, I guess it would be ok for a small apartment with the same flooring throughout.  It's manageable -- if you HAVE to.  However, I'd highly recommend taking a step up and getting a vacuum that will actually work on different… read full review »

Happened to over hear another customer telling a friend about this vaccum. So inexpensive I bought it thinking I didn't have much to lose. Wow! I'd buy it again, recommend it, give as a gift - it is a great little vaccuum and very powerful. The only down side is that you must keep the filter clean (I clean after every other use) but it is really well designed and easy to clean the filter. I don't see that as a down side at all.
