Etsy.com —

Etsy.com is a great on-line marketplace to find unique, handmade items.

Purchasing:

There are stores for everything: jewelry (large variety in this category), baked goods (think fudge and cookies), other foods like bbq sauces and spices, household items like candle holders and clothing for everyone in the family. You can find pretty much anything you are looking for and help out a crafter in one purchase. There is also a section where you can put your custom request along with the price you are willing to pay and crafters bid on your project. Great if you are looking for a unique gift for someone and know exactly what you want.

Selling:

Etsy makes it very easy to set up an on-line storefront in a very short amount of time. You can name your store, set policies and procedures, tell everyone a little about yourself, add pictures, write your description, set a price, set shipping charges, and post you items for sell with very easy to follow steps. Etsy's charges to list and their percentage once sold is very small and I love the idea of having my own storefront to send people to for my items.

You can also take custom orders, add your favorite sellers and join other Etsy groups that you have something in common with. I love having my crafts listed on Etsy and being able to purchase from other crafters.

This is an awesome site. I discovered it earlier this year when Meredith mentioned it.
