Esurance —

"Finding esurance the hard way"

Due to a parking ticket issued while my car was stolen, I lost my license and my insurance!

I had moved, and did not get the notices.

I did not know until I went in to renew my license that it had been suspended for failure to appear on a ticket I didn't know existed because it was issued on my Caprice while it was stolen!

When I finally got the ticket  explained, I went to the Police department where the car was found, and got a copy of the police report, and took it to the city where the ticket was issued, and got it dismissed. The DMV update, however, would not affect the new company who would insure me after Geico dropped me, which was (AAA), since it still showed my license HAD been suspended for a time.  So AAA's  rating system's denying me regular insurance, though I'd had no claims or accidents, and that would last until I had been licensed again for three consecutive years, since their computer is "linked to the DMV", but slow to update when it's in your favor, I discovered.

Next June, it will be three years since I got new insurance with AAA, through Western United.

My former insurance was canceled, and going to remain canceled, as I found out.  That insurance was originally with Geico, who had me send a Western Union Moneygram to pay $28.95 to them that they said I owed at that time, for which I had to buy a membership in Western Union to send them, at extra cost, also. After I did that, then they informed me they weren't going to insure me, either, after that. So I called AAA, and went there.

Tremendous shock!  I was handed off from AAA, to Western United, a company that offers little, but for much more money.

After enough of their problems with nobody answering the phone about monthly payments in person at the office, I paid up for six months, and when renewal came up, looked around for something affordable, since they raised my rates for no particular reason, so I decided it was time for a change.

I went online, and got a list of insurers, and let it be known I was interested.  Well, my cell phone was inundated with calls, half calls, call backs, and few half way intelligent sounding responses.

However, immediately, I got a response by email and by phone, from esurance.  I was skeptical at first - no bricks and mortar place.  However, their 24/7 availability, and much lower price ($127 lower over 6 months), caused me to apply immediately, and to cancel AAA/Western United, immediately.

And, surprisingly enough, Western United did not utter a peep about it, or question it, or fight for my business.

So esurance gives better coverage, and promises to be the one who will remain my choice for the foreseeable, if they remember to make appropriate adjustment to my premium when I have been licensed for three years consecutively, again.
