Estes Park is a great little town, that is just about 1 1/2 hours north of Denver. It is at the base of Rocky Mountain Park's entrance, and has wonderful people, great little local restaurants, and great little shops with lovely souveniers.
We are looking at this town to retire in, because it has great seasons, properties back up too the Rockies, has great fishing, wonderful snow in the winter. The town is close-knit, with a love for visitors. It is a safe little main street to let the kids go wander through to find their souveniers.
If you've never been, you can go in any season and find lots to do. Has great stables for horse-back riding, wagon trails in all seasons with dinners and camp-fires. Fly-fishing, white water rafting, has great snowmobiling rentals and places to snowmobile, lots of snow for it, perfect.
Nature lovers, lots of hikes, snow shoe trails, rock climbing. Lots of wildlife, beautiful herds of Elk, deer, Mountain Goat, Coyotes, Wolves, Cougars, all types of birds, etc.
Love to go up the peaks in the Rockies. Estes Park has it all for those that can't afford places like Aspen. I would highly recommend this little town for anyone visiting. Has lots of cabins for rent, or hotels or motels... and home to the very famous Stanley Hotel.
If you have visted it and love it as much as we do, please comment!
