Escape Pod Podcast —

About the Podcast

Escape Pod offers Sci Fi (and non-si fi) fans an excellent selection of audio sci fi stories, ranging from about 1/2 hour to hour and a half.  I must say, I am impressed with everything about this podcast.  Not only are the authors of the stories actually paid (it's so hard to find paying short story magazines/podcasts/etc.!), but the stories themselves are diverse, well chosen, well read, and excellent!

The best argument for the Podcast are the recommended samples I have listed below.  If you haven't read Isaac Asimov's "Nightfall" and have an hour or so to spend listening to it, it is by far one of the greatest stories I have read (err...listened to, rather!).  The first I list, "How Lonesome a Life..." was one of the first I listened to from the Podcast and continues to be one of my favorites.

Haha! This is too funny--I also get up during movies. I have about a 15 minute sit-limit, which doesn't really drive me nuts so much as it drives my husband nuts! I seem to be able to focus a little more with books for some reason... I hope your Mom loves the podcast!!

WOW! I never heard of Podcast but I just checked it out! I am going to send a link to my mother because she LOVES to listen to books, me I am a book worm but it has to be written because I have a VERY short attention span and often need to refer back to a certain page in order to understand what the heck is going on! It's a challenge but I really do love books. My mom listens to stand up comedians, Harry Potter (not so much any more) and other one's that I can't quite remember right now. That website is an AWESOME idea for people that love to listen!
(For the record my attention span is SO bad that when I watch a movie, not only do I get up and go do things constantly but I also have to have the subtitles on for extra attention grabbing! Geez, I drive myself nuts!)

Great! Isaac Asimov is classic. Good job!

Thanks! I'll have to check out the flick too. I'm pretty new to Sci Fi, but this podcast has been quite enjoyable for me!

"Escape pod," eh? I wonder if a certain 1977 space fantasy flick wasn't the source for that bit of inspiration. Nice review, my friend!
