Erie Insurance Review Summary

One of the lesser- known names in insurance coverage, Erie Insurance is an insurance provider known for its competitive pricing. Reviewers of Erie Insurance like it not only for its less expensive premiums, but also for its good claims processing and the overall service it provides. “I Love Their Service and How Quickly They Respond in a Crisis”, says on reviewer and most agree that Erie is a small company with large benefits. It isn’t well advertised, and this prevents Erie Insurance from becoming a household name. But the costs are low and the claims are processed efficiently and these reasons makes Erie Insurance one of the best Insurance Companies in the business.

I've had Erie Insurance for about three years now.  The reason I first switched to Erie is because my parents dealt with the same company for twenty years.  I guess every insurance company might appear to be the same until you have to file a claim.  I was involved in a bad accident in October of 2005. ... read full review »

ERIE INSURANCE COMMITED FELONY INSURANCE FRAUD AGAINST THEIR OWN POLICYHOLDERS!

My wife and I were policy holders and premium payers for 7 years with Erie Insurance. On June 30, 2007 a criminal named Wayne and Shirley Kogoy filed a fraudulent insurance claim against our policy. Our car was parked...

I agree Erie Insurance has competitive rate and decent service.  However, they will do anything possible to dodge their responsibility to fulfill their liability to pay claims.  Their cheap rate is at the cost of their policy holders not getting fair pay-outs and unfairness to others who are brought into an ugly situations of having to deal with Erie Insurance because the damages were caused by Erie policy holders.

This is absolutely the WORST insurance company I ever has to deal with.  They are an unethical insurance carrier.  I was shocked by their dealing with my claim until I consulted...

Erie Insurance-After having an independent agency for over 25 years, I merged with Erie and was extremely pleased with the way in which my previous customers were treated in the transfer.  I also had a dealing with their claims office and found them to be more than fair in their treatment of our claim.  It was settled very quickly with very little consternation on my part.  The claims rep did not know that I had experience as an agent and treated us extremely well.  I reviewed a few of the other reviews and caution readers to understand that the negative responses normally have other circumstances... read full review »

I have been with the Erie Insurance Group for several years now.  The agents are very professional and a great help.  The cost of my premiums has actually come down each year.  I have multiple vehicles, Homeowners and Business Insurance through Erie.  I get a discount for safe driving habits and for having multiple policies.  You can even get the bills consolidated into one.  From what my friends and family tell me they pay for insurance, I am doing great to stay with Erie.

Erie Insurance claimed their driver "responsible" for totaling my car. They refused to give me a fair settlement. My lawyer is now issuing a civil suit against the driver to cover the rest of the damages. Don't use Erie Insurance!!!!!!!!!!

We have been with them for over 20 years. They offer multiple policy discounts. Also have accident forgiveness. The only thing I don't like is that they will use refurbished parts on a new car. I feel that if you pay a premium for insurance, then you should get new parts for a new car repair.

This is our first encounter with Erie insurance--and hopefully our last!  This company is so unethical it hurts to think about it.  Furthermore, they hire adjusters who, unbelievably, are even more unethical than they are!

First,  I am not an Erie client--I am an Erie victim.  I was hit from behind by an Erie client in a Chevy Silverado with a snow plow attachment on the front as I sat a few cars deep at a traffic light.  The driver of the Silverado admitted 100 percent responsibility.  The police report stated it as such, as did the witness.

So, I figure, "O.K.  No problem.  No one is...

I have found that there are companies that may be able to offer better prices, however, whether or not the benefits they offer is as good. Erie provides great benefits with there low prices, but they are very slow in returning your calls whenever trying to report a claim.

Erie has been my auto and home insurance co. since I was 17.  I got my first car then, while I was serving in the Navy. My dad, who had been with Erie for many years before that, helped me obtain insurance from his agent.  Two weeks later, while home for a weekend, a drunk ran a red light and hit me in the side.  He had no insurance, so Erie stepped up and took care of the whole thing.  In 53 years that is the only time I have ever been involved in an auto accident.  Last year, Hurricane type winds ripped shingles off of my roof in several places.  That same day Erie notified a roofing contractor... read full review »

Erie Insurance is a great company with great claim service and professional agents. This is a local Pennsylvania Based company with great rates and wonderful discounts. Some of the discounts include multi-policy discount, which includes life insurance policies, as well. Driver's training discounts, college student discounts, youthful longevity discounts. Also, depending on what type of vehicle you have, abs and airbag discounts, as well as security alarm discounts for the auto policies.  Once you are with them for 3 years, claim free, you are eligible for First Accident Forgiveness and after 15yrs...

AFTER SEEING A LOT OF THE GECKO ON TV SAYING "SAVE 15% OR MORE ON YOUR CAR INSURANCE", I THOUGHT I WOULD SEE HOW MUCH I WAS SAVING. I WENT TO PROGRESSIVE.COM FOR A QUICK QUOTE. I HAVE BEEN WITH GEICO FOR MANY YEARS AND NEVER MADE A CLAIM WITH THEM. WHEN I SAW A QUOTE FROM ERIE INSURANCE, I WAS ASTOUNDED. I COULD INSURE ALL THREE OF MY VEHICLES FOR A FULL YEAR FOR WHAT GEICO WAS CHARGING FOR SIX MONTHS!!! SO, I HAVE CONCLUDED THAT GEICO WAS RIGHT. I COULD SAVE 15% ON MY CAR INSURANCE, JUST NOT WITH THEM.I CANNOT COMMENT ON THEIR CLAIMS SERVICE SINCE I HAVE ONLY BEEN WITH THEM FOR ABOUT FOUR MONTHS,... read full review »

I am a insurance agent, but do not work or sell Erie and I am still with them due to the service and pricing I know I will not get elsewhere.  They are picky about what they will accept. You must have a decent record.  Unless anything has changed with them , I do believe they still offer adult cheaper pricing at 24 instead of 25 like most other carriers.  The pricing stays steady and they are a bit old fashioned in the way they do business, however they give excellent pricing due to there strict underwriting that only allows good driving and claims history to be accepted.
