One product that stores lenses and keeps them comfortable is Equate Multi- Purpose Solution, a product sold at Wal- Mart.

Equate Multi- Purpose Solution cleans, rinses, disinfects, and stores contact lenses in a few simple steps. The manufacturer recommends rinsing each side of your contact lenses for five seconds, then storing the contacts in the solution for at least four hours. This product is no- rub, and its active ingredients clean lenses while they are stored. It is designed for use on contacts that are replaced every thirty days or less.

I have been wearing contact lenses for more than twenty years and during that time, I have experimented with many different cleaners and solutions. In the old days, separate solutions/products were needed to keep contacts clean and comfortable, but times have changed for the better. Now, it is common to find several "no rub" cleaning and storage solutions in the vision care aisle, competing for the dollars of contact lens wearers.

I have tried many different all in one contact cleaners and Equate Multi- Purpose Solution is one that I have used in the past and continue to use on occasion. This product is good for cleaning and storing and it keeps contacts comfortable until time for their next use. I use disposable lenses that I replace every two or three weeks and for my purposes, Equate Multi- Purpose Solution works well. I have noticed that I need to rub the lenses just a little bit for best results- something I don't have to do with most other multi- purpose contact lens solutions. But this isn't a big deal and my lenses are perfectly fine until I throw them out and replace with a new pair.

Among the appeals of Equate Multi- Purpose Solution, the one that is most obvious is the price! There is no other multi- purpose solution on the market, that I know about, that is sold for such a low price. It is common to find a 12 oz. bottle of this solution selling for less than three dollars. Other multi- purpose solutions cost two to three times as much money. Needless to say, the cost factor alone will convince many people to give this product a try. At the same time, however, the extremely low cost could cause some to question the product's quality. I am one such skeptic, and this is probably why I tend to alternate Equate Multi- Purpose Solution with other solutions, such as Renu, Bausch & Lomb, and others.

Bottom- Line Viewpoint:

For clean, comfortable contact lenses, Equate Multi- Purpose Solution gets the job done for an incredibly low price. It does require a little bit of rubbing to obtain optimal results and it is sold only at Wal- Mart, but it does produce good results and for a price this low, it's a product every contact lens wearer should try at least once.
