I love it when my little guy smells good after a bath and since he doesn't have really sensitive skin, I get to indulge myself a little. I was going to purchase Johnson's regular baby wash, but really wanted something with a fragrance. When my hubby pointed out the Equate Lavender Baby Wash for half the price of Johnson's, I put it in the cart - and Johnson‘s didn‘t have the lavender in stock at the time.

Equate is the Walmart generic brand in skin care items. This particular baby wash is very similar to the well known Johnson & Johnson Baby wash, with the main difference being in the price. In addition to cleaning, the lavender baby wash claims it will relax and calm babies.

The 15 oz bottle was on sale for 95 cents normally listed for $1.19. The wash dispenses thinly, which I wasn't used to at first, so I got too much. Immediately it smells great - not a fake lavender scent, but nice and pleasant, not overpowering. My son's hair will still smell of the lavender up to the next evening. The number one best thing I like about this wash is it's ability to create a nice bubble bath. My son was used to a wash that barely produced bubbles and was a little overwhelmed the first time he got into a tub FILLED with bubbles.

The wash does get him clean and lathers well in his hair, but would probably not be best for little ones with unmanageable hair without a conditioner.

As for the relaxing claims... don't fall for it. This does absolutely nothing to calm or relax my active two-year old. Purchase it if you like the scent of lavender not to help relax and calm a fussy baby. The value is alright, but many parents, through the use of coupons can probably find a better wash for a comparable price.

It must be that it's good for the adult since I've not yet had luck with a lavender wash/lotion doing any kind of calming.

i thought the johnson with lavendar did a little better at calming ... or maybe it just calmed me! :-)

I like the scent too but I guess the "calming" is too much to hope for. Thanks!
