Excuse me Equate, why are my clothes changing colors?

By

from Kansas

Comments about Equate General Protection Lotion SPF 50:

I have very fair skin and I can pretty much just look at the sun and get a sunburn. I am not into having name brand items at all so I don't mind buying off brands such as Equate. I've used numerous Equate products and they have performed well. But this Equate Sunblock not so much. It's incredibly cheap and comes in a fairly good sized bottle. The smell is your typical sunblock smell. It absorbs easily and quickly. I was pretty impressed so far. Throughout the day it did what it's supposed to do, protect my skin from the sun and sunburns. The problem was when I got home and changed clothing. My what used to be white bra had a yellowing orange color around the band. I was incredibly confused as to what had happened. I decided to try the product the following day while wearing a light colored shirt [I just put on an old one I had thrown in the back of my closet so I didn't care if it got ruined] and the same thing happened, a yellowish orange color was on my shirt. I have no idea how a white lotion turns your clothing yellowish orange. Please DON'T buy this product, it's magic and changes your clothing to other colors.

Good For Feeling Greasy

By

from Utah

Comments about Equate General Protection Lotion SPF 50:

This suntan lotion works about as well as any. It is cheaper than most, so it can save some money without losing much value.

Scent
The scent is not too strong or overwhelming, so it is definitely tolerable.

Absorption
This suntan lotion absorbs into the body pretty well, but it does still leave one feeling quite greasy and dirty afterwards. If one doesn't mind this feeling, then it's not bad, but it certainly isn't the cleanest feeling I have ever had.

Longevity
This lasts pretty well, unless one starts to sweat. For me, it seems to come off in the water, so it may not be as effective.

Effectiveness
SPF 50 is pretty strong, and this one is effective at helping block harmful UV rays of the sun.

Ease of Application
Basically, this suntan lotion is pretty easy to apply, as it simply rubs into the body. But it does need to be spread evenly and completely. If one misses a spot or even only has a thin covering in a spot, he can still get burned through it.

This sunscreen does not work!

By

Comments about Equate General Protection Lotion SPF 50:

Equate General Protection Lotion SPF 50 is not worth the money. I decided to try this sunscreen because of my positive experience with other Equate brand products. I used this product on myself and my older son before we went to a weekend morning t-ball game. I liberally applied this sunscreen to my face, neck, and arms and did the same to my son. The lotion absorbed into my skin quite nicely, and I was very impressed that this lotion did not feel heavy or greasy. After about 30 minutes of being in the sun and heat, I noticed that this sunscreen starting "dripping" and my white t-shirt quickly turned a shade of yellowish orange around the collar. I also felt like my face and neck were burning from the sun's rays. After spending about three hours outside, I went home and immediately noticed a distinct redness on my face and neck. It was clear that Equate General Protection Lotion SPF 50 did not do a great job at protecting my fair skin. My son got a sunburn as well. Overall, I am not impressed with this sunscreen. It is not worth the money.

Great Sun Protection

By

from Virginia

Comments about Equate General Protection Lotion SPF 50:

I have tried a variety of sunscreen products and have always had the mentality that name brand and price matters when it comes to sunscreen but in this instance I was wrong. Last year I was at the pool with family and left my sunscreen at home. My sister handed me her bottle of Equate 50 SPF and I reluctantly applied it to my skin and then applied it to my 2 year old daughters skin. I was very surprised at how thick this lotion is and it has a typical sunscreen scent. This sunscreen had a light feel to it while on the skin but it wasn't too greasy or oily on the skin. After spending hours in the sun and applying Equate 50 SPF Sunscreen around 3 times, I was amazed at the protection it gave my families skin. The day after staying out in the sun all day none of us had any redness to our skin, I couldn't even tell that we had been out in the sun the day before. With this experience I have changed my views on off brand sunscreens and tanning products. I now save money using these products because they are just as good as the higher end name brand products. It provides the same protection from the sun as the leading brands and I save money buying equate.

Absorption
I can feel a light film on the skin but it isn't a bad feel to it.

Longevity
I applied this sunscreen every 3 hours. I couldn't even tell I had spent the whole day in the sun the next day.

Effectiveness
Protects the skin from the sun for hours.

No difference noticed between this one and the name brand

By

Comments about Equate General Protection Lotion SPF 50:

I use to buy really expensive sunscreens and lotions thinking that they were the only ones that worked. I did not believe that I could use a cheap sunscreen and still get the same results that I did while using the expensive kind but I have changed my mind after using this product.

Scent
It smells like sunscreen. To me every sunscreen smells the same but it might smell different to others. To me it smells just like the banana boat spf 100.

Absorption
This sunscreen leaves my skin a little greasy feeling. it seems like just as it is soaking in it is time to apply more. I still think that it is a great product and I recommend using it.

Longevity
Great product. Comes in many different SPF so you are sure to find the one that you are looking for.

Effectiveness
I usually use a 50 or higher and even being out in the sun all day boating I have not gotten sun burned yet.

Ease of Application
Very easy to apply but like I said before it does make my skin a little greasy feeling so I would just make sure to watch how much you are putting on.

Comments about Equate General Protection Lotion SPF 50:

I used this the first time up north and it was like the sun was attracted to it. I got burned in about 20 minutes. I decided to try it again last weekend and the same thing happened. I applied it and it goes on nicely - like a lotion - my skin just absorbed it (which was nice) but again I burned within 20 minutes. I applied it on my face, neck, arms, chest, and all still burned. I followed directions (even though I know how to put on sunscreen) . I since then have thrown away the sunscreen and once this sunburn is gone, I will try a new brand.
