I wouldn't buy it again.

This product has both it's cons and pros , however; the cons override. I've been wanting to try proactive or x out but can't afford it. When I got this product I had read on the box here it says ' compare to proactive'. This product is not all that it appears to be. Every time I use it my face literally burns. One night I used the kit before bed and my mom walked into the room and was like "OMG what happened to you"? I was like "MOM IT BURNT MY FACE". This happened every time i used it. The only good thing about the kit was the sulfate mask. I reallllllyyyyyy loveeeeee the mask. It feels so good on the skin after washing.

Combination Deal

This complete system combines several types of products in one package. If someone wishes to use all of these different products, then it definitely can be a better price than buying each part individually. But if someone is not sure whether or not he will use all the different parts, he may be better off getting the few individual parts that he definitely needs. Even though he is getting less product, it can be cheaper than paying more for several products that he won't use. But especially if someone wants to use all of these products, this is probably about the best format to buy it in. Effectiveness This can help, except perhaps in extreme cases of bad acne. Side Effects Personally, I have never experienced any negative side effects from this product. However, that can vary from person to person. One should always consult the warnings and potential side effects before use. Immediacy This seems to work quite well, especially considering that it is an off-brand product.

the toner is my favorite

I'll start by saying that I don't have a big problem with acne, I usually only break out if I am under severe stress, or it is my time of the month. Other than that I have been blessed with pretty clear skin. I also have combination skin, with my T-zone being quite oily and the rest of my face being pretty dry. I'm not the biggest fan of the cleanser, it leaves my face feeling very dry. I can't stand the way it feels after I wash with it, I put on the toner and lotion as soon as I can afterwards. There are other just as affordable cleansers that I like better. The repairing lotion is okay. Not the best, but also not the worst I've tried. It does what it's supposed to do, but I wish it was more hydrating. The toner, however, is great. It works better than the other two products at cleaning my skin and getting rid of pimples. I like how gentle it is, it doesn't make my skin sting like other toners I've tried. Overall, I like the toner and have bought that several times, but wouldn't get the cleanser or repairing lotion again.

Not a bad product for a generic.

I bought this when I could no longer afford to purchase the Proactiv system. The Equate system did not work quite as well as the Proactiv products, but it still helped my acne enough that I continued to purchase it for awhile. I think I bought this system a total of four times when I was a senior in high school. I used to suffer from extreme blemishes that would not break the skin, but instead they would be painful and bright red on my face. This system helped to clear those up and I was glad for that. Unfortunately, this system did not help with my blackheads at the time. I have not used it since I was in high school, so I do not if they have improved the formula, but I do know that Equate's system did not clear up all of my issues at the time. It is a cheaper option, but like so many generic options, it does not work as well as the name brand. Effectiveness This product was not as effective as its name brand counterpart.

Not worth it

I purchased the Equate Acne Treatment System earlier in my fight against acne. It's very similar to Proactiv, but it's much cheaper. This system is basically benzoyl peroxide, zinc oxide, and toner. Let me first say that I find toner to be useless. I have never bought into the old theory that toner closes your pores. I can understand if you need it to remove makeup, but if you don't wear makeup and wash your face thoroughly it doesn't matter in my opinion. The wash is a benzoyl peroxide treatment. I don't know how effective it is using a benzoyl peroxide wash verse using a cream or a gel. I don't know if the wash helps your skin through out the day compared to micro benzoyl peroxide, which releases small dosages throughout the day. The lotion has zinc in it, which I can say for sure works on bringing down swelling from acne. It doesn't prevent new acne, but it can calm it down very quickly. I wouldn't recommend this product because there are better cheaper options on the market.

A trio of effective products to treat acne!

This is a great system of three skin care products that I use when I have acne. I am twenty eight years old, and I still get acne occasionally. I do not want acne to stick around! When this happens I use the three awesome equate products in the package. The purifying cleanser makes my skin feel smooth. I use this a few times a week, but not every day. It is great to use before breakouts occur. The rejuvenating toner makes my face feel fresh after I use it! This helps to destroy acne fast! I use it before I go to bed if I have a breakout, and it significantly shrinks any pimples that I may have. The repair lotion is good to use every day, and I usually use it before I go to bed as well. Its a nice way to finish the day, and each of these products helps make my face feel refreshed! These products do not leave an oily residue which is another bonus. These products are also not scented, which I like because I am a guy. I do not want to smell feminine when I use these products! I did not give it a perfect ten because I think it is a little pricey, but still it is well worth the cost. Side Effects None

I guess you get what you pay for when it comes to acne treatment

My fourteen year old daughter suffers from occasional acne flare ups and we have been using pro-activ to treat her acne for the last three years. In an attempt to save some money, I decided to purchase the Equate Brand Acne treatment system. Effectiveness My daughter was extremely disappointed with this acne system! After using this product for four days, her face was red, dry, and blotchy! I convinced her to give it at least a week and she agreed to keep using the Equate brand. Her acne did not clear up and she stopped using the product. Ease of Application The Equate brand acne system is easy enough to apply and convenient to use. The bottles are significantly larger than the pro-activ brand and contain much more product. Unfortunately the quality of the Equate product is not even close to the effectiveness of Pro-Activ. Side Effects My daughter complained of a burning sensation upon applying the Equate acne lotion. She also experienced red blotchy skin and her acne worsened while using this system. Immediacy Perhaps we should have given the Equate acne system longer to do the job! There was no way to convince my daughter to keep using a product that was clearly making her skin worse! I guess I learned my lesson! You get what you pay for! We will be going back to Pro-Activ!

Effective and affordable, but too drying even for oily skin!

While the Equate Anti-Acne System does help to clear up acne, it does so rather slowly. I've used the Proactiv system in the past, which this is a knock-off of, and compared to Proactiv this system is not that great. Proactiv worked much quicker for me and was less drying. You can tell that this system is a watered down version of Proactiv, which is why it takes longer to work. However, if you just can't afford Proactiv or don't have the money at the moment, this is a good system to go with until you can afford to buy Proactiv. Effectiveness Yes, this system is effective and does get rid of acne, but it also causes other issues in the process - like dryness and a neck that feels like snake skin. It's just too over-drying! However, that doesn't take away from the fact that it does work. Ease of Application The system is very easy to apply. Just follow the directions, plus if you've used other products in the past, then it's just common sense. There's nothing difficult when it comes to ease of application. Convenience The kit is convenient since it includes everything you need. You can even find some with a bonus product, which is a skin clearing Sulfur mask. I actually like the mask better than everything else in the kit. It's also very affordable, so you can afford to purchase it every month or as needed. Side Effects As I stated above, this system is so over-drying! It had my neck feeling like snake skin and I'd have to apply a moisturizer to just my neck 2-3 times a day. It wasn't as drying on my face, but still more than I'd like. I already have oily skin and I don't like to use heavy moisturizers. However, with this kit you have no choice because a "light" moisturizer just won't be good enough. Immediacy This system doesn't work as quickly as others, but I did see results after a week. However, just be careful with the dryness because if your skin gets too dry you'll start to break out even more (that's what happened to me) and it will seem as though the kit isn't working at all.
