Epson Stylus Photo RX580 InkJet Printer Review

After having two printers for several years (one for printing photos and one with all-in-one capabilities), I decided to consolidate. My previous photo printer was an Epson and I loved the quality, so opted for the Stylus RX580.  I was definitely not disappointed!  It has proved EXTREMELY reliable and has had little to no problems for the past 3 years!

My husband and I are avid shutterbugs and we are constantly printing off photos for our families.  The photo quality is amazing and we have been very pleased with the speed of printing for both photos and regular printing.

The printer is also a scanner and copier.  The scanning is very high quality and the copying feature has definitely been convenient.  It has the capibility of PC-free printing from a memory stick, but we import all of our photos into our computer, so we have not really used this feature extensively.

One of the most unique features of the printer is its ability to directly print onto CD's or DVD's.  This feature takes a little getting used to (and the alignment isn't always perfect), but it is definitely something I love about the printer!  We created our own wedding invitations as photo slideshow video CD's and used this capability to print the tops of the CD's to match the paper invitations.  It handled printing nearly 300 CD's beautifully and we got TONS of compliments!

Like most printers, the ink cartridges are quite expensive.  It has 6 ink catridges: light magenta, dark magenta, light cyan, dark cyan, yellow, and black. This has it's advantages and disadvantages because you can just change the cartridges that are empty.  However, we feel like we are constantly changing ink!  If we get a pack of all ink cartridges at our local warehouse store, it costs about $80.  However, lately we have been able to find it cheaper at office supply stores with coupons.

Other than the price of the cartridges (which you'll get with any printer), I have had no complaints about our print and would highly recommend it to anyone!
