This printer was received as a gift, and I was very excited to be able to print my own pictures and to scan items that I sell on ebay.
I get great photos out of this machine, good colors, they are always a bit darker than they look on my computer screen, but that may be that I have a backlit screen, I have not tried hooking it up to a computer with a regular monitor.
It was pretty much ready to go out of the box, but like any other printer that anyone in my family has purchased, it did not come with its own usb cord. I did have a small issue with the pictures not printing straight at first, but after several pictures, it seemed to fix itself. Now I can print almost any size picture that I want, for framing, scrapbooking, or to send to relatives. I have noticed that the price of ink has gone up in the last year, but so has my favorite candy bar and soda.
My biggest issue is with the scanner. It has a feature that is supposed to help with any dust on the screen, but any pictures that I scan into my computer that have a lot of dark areas on them, also seem to have mini white specks all over. I have tried cleaning the scanner with a special lint free cleaning cloth, but it didnt help. Also, you can only scan flat images. I tried to scan some items that were a bit 3D and the scanner could not focus anything that was not pressed up against the glass. There is a feature to change the focus, but there are always areas that are still very blurry and out of focus. No luck at all on scanning objects that I try to auction, I just have to stick with taking pictures of them.
All in all, it is a pretty good machine. It has lots of bells and whistles that I would never use, but I am sure are good for some people. Plus I like that it has its own memory card reader and is Mac compatible.
