Okay for a basic printer but not the best for photos.

I got a good deal on this and it works well for documents and basic printing needs but for photos the colors are not always right. I do think it is noisy but don't know of any printers that are really quiet so I guess it's a moot point. I have not tried the CD printing feature but it looks like it will be easy to do.

A Great Printer

5

First I must say that I was strictly a Canon Products girl. I was sold on this printer when an Epson Rep displayed it's fantastic qualities. I owned one HP Wide Format, one Canon Photo and the Epson Sytlus R260. The R260 is worth every penny I paid for it and more. I do genealogy and used my printer almost daily. Yes, it uses a lot of ink, but that is primarily because it's a PHOTO printer which prints great quality photos. That is why it has to constantly keeping cleaning the print heads, thus, consuming a lot of ink. I primarily use it to print labels on family geanealogy disks. The ink is guaranteed to last for 100 years and is waterproof. I put it to the test by soaking two separate photos overnight in a glass of water; on printed on my Epson R260 and one with my canon (I won't say which one). The photo printed with the canon ink was ruined. The photo printed with the Epson (expensive Claria) ink was untouch because the ink is absolutely smudge proof and water-resistant. No problems with at all in the 4-5 years I've owned it. Thanks Epson for a great product.

R260 is a pretty good photo printer

R260 works well and does what it is made to do. It prints pretty fast, and the pictures quality are pretty good too. The printer can even print on CD's so that is a bonus as well. I am very satisfied with it. The only thing is ink is used pretty fast.

Pretty good printer

This printer is pretty good, but does not blow you away. It does what it is made for. The feature that is very attractive is the ability to print on cd/dvds to make your own cover, and the photo quality print out is decent.

Can't get worse than this

1

Worst printer I have ever seen. An attempt to use it generally necessitates a head cleaning operation before it can print copy that is readable. That means you need to plan to spend about ten minutes working with the machine before you can actually print a single piece of paper. The ink cartridges empty quickly and clog frequently. Printing is not possible if one color cartridge is out, even if that color isn't needed. There is nothing redeemable about this machine. I am literally throwing it out and purchasing something else.

This printer did not last one year.

The Epson Ultra Hi-Definition R260 Photo Printer did not even last for a year.  I contacted the technical department and they were not able to assist me in reparing it.  Therefore I had to replace it.  The paper stopped feeding and that could not be repaired by me.  It would have to be sent back to the manufacturer.  I decided to toss it and replace it with a different another brand name.
