Epson CX8400 InkJet Printer —
I have owned this all-in-one for 5 months now. One of my hobbies (trying to turn into business) is taking boring photos, adding backgrounds, text, inserts, etc. and then printing out. I use the scanner part to scan in photos (or card reader) and, of course, the printer to print. In a week's time, I put this printer through some very strenuous work.This machine can handle a workload! Its speed is really good, print quality is outstanding, and scanner speed is fast!! Some of the features I use most are:
1. The scanner options. This gives you the ability to do a custom scan with plenty of options, or you can just use auto mode, which does a really nice job.
2. Copy features. I am always needing to enlarge a photo or change layout, add border, etc. This printer does all this and is not too complicated.
3. The restore feature. I have had to use a lot of older photos as an original. This mode allows me to enhance these older pics and make them look new again! Very easy to do!
There are a few drawbacks to this machine, however. As I have noted above, some of the features are very easy to use. Others can be a little testy. Installing ink, for one, on most printers involves raising the cover, pulling the old cartridge out, and putting the new one in. This printer requires you to go into the menu and select change cartridge. It took me a few trys to remember exactly where to go in the menu to install ink. Also, some of the menus do not work like a typical menu would. Example: where you would usually press OK or ENTER, you have to press the right arrow.
In all, I would highly recommend this printer. The ink is inexpensive and lasts pretty well. The print quality is outstanding. And, after a few tries, the menus are not too bad to navigate through.
