The Epson Artisan 800 is a great all around printer

4

I have owned Epson printers for about 15 years now.  I have only owned 3 and I have liked them all (that's a given since I came back for more).  I have had the Epson Artisan 800 for a little over a year now and it has been pretty great.  Print quality overall has been great.  I have had some blurry photos here and there but for the most part I have I love the way both pictures and text print out (this includes personal photographs, photos for collages, documents, coupons, etc).  I love the fact that the front screen is a touch screen.  I also like that it turns up to make it easier to use.  The ink is super easy to put in, by far the easiest I have ever seen on an epson.  It is quick and easy to scan and copy pages. The biggest problem I have with epson printers overall is their ability to eat up ink and they don't seem to finish the ink cartidge.  I love the the way they print so I have stuck with them.  Also, I bought this printer originally to print on clear presentation paper and it unfortunately does not do that.   I would definitely recommend this printer to others.

do not buy this

I had this printer for a little over a year when it stopped working completely.  An error message came up about a paper jam, which was cleared, but the error would not go away.  After doing some research online, I found this had happened to a LOT of other people.  Obviously a defect with the printer.  When I contacted Epson, they informed me the warranty was only one year.  I would have to pay to ship it to a repair center, pay to have it repaired, and pay to have it shipped back.  Considering this was an obvious defect with the printer, I chose not to do this.  Also considering how much I spent on the printer, I thought this was ridiculous.  I bought a new printer, not epson, and will not be purchasing epson products in the future.  This is an all-in-one, but now with the error message, none of the functions can be used, so it is completely useless.

I purchased the Epson Artisan 800 printer through Epson's online store,  the service and speed of shipping was great.  This printer is by far the best all-in-one printer that i have owned.  This printer has a fax, scanner, copier and dvd/cd printer.  I have owned the epson printers R220 & R320 series printers they were good but were not all-in-ones.  Then I purchased a RX595 all-in-one this printer had everything except the fax.  The Epson Artisan 800 has made many improvements over the RX595 it is quieter, faster and has better quality of pictures.  On the older modles for DVD/CD printing you had a tray you had to put the dvd on then insert it into the printer the Artisan 800 the dvd printer tray is built in so there is less chance opf placing the tray wrong or getting the tray damaged, it is also must faster, this is very important for me as I have a small business transfering super 8, beta, VHS and other formats to DVD and usually making several copies for people to give to their families.  I highly recomend these Epson printers I am eagerly awaiting Epson's next series of all-in-ones to see what improvements they will come up with.

The Artisan 800 printer does it all - and well.

I got the Epson Artisan 800 to start scanning my old photos and have a better color printer for my digital photos.  I got a fax and copier as a bonus!  It was easy to set up (after purchasing the required USB printer cable) and start using with my new iMAC.  Since I am new to the MAC, I was worried about compatibility, but it was not a problem.  The printer is a bit larger than I expected, but it is more compact than the older version.  The Artisan 800 has it all - slots for SD/MS/xD as well as a CD tray.  The printer is a bit loud, but since it is quick, this doesn't matter much. And the paper tray doesn't hold much. I recommend the Artisan 800 for all printing and scanning needs.  I have only sent one fax so I cannot comment on this except to confirm that it went to where I faxed it!  The control panel is clear and easy to use and it is a touch screen that works.  The ink comes separate so when I have to refill them or change them I can buy individual colors instead of one with all colors.

Except for the cheap plastic construction, we like it so far

We purchased the Epson Artisan 800 photo printer about three weeks ago. So far, it is working very well. We like the quality of print but do not expect the printer it's self to last very long. The inexpensive plastic paper bin may lend it's self to breaking if not carefully handled. ( This is not a good thing when you have 3 children in the home who may not be as careful as an adult. But this remains to be seen... ) Another con for the paper tray would be the way we have to feed the paper when printing postage, it's a bit more complicated and takes some getting used to unlike the top feed on the Epson700RX. We replaced the Epson 700RX which was a more substantial machine but became very difficult to find ink out side of special ordering from Epson company.   We are able to purchase inks at local outlets for the Epson Artisan 800 photo printer. The quality of print is excellent and we noticed the print time is faster as well. We print alot of single page black and white as well as a few photos for family use. We have enjoyed Epson printers for several years and except for the way they handle rebates ( We HATE Rebates!) we have always had good luck with the machines themselves.

Great color

I bought the Epson Artisan when it was fairly new to the market. The first one I purchased wouldn't recognize two of the ink cartridges and I discovered that the ink was leaking out the bottom of the printer all over my desk. So not a good initial experience. I easily exchanged it at the store and the second has worked wonderfully. The wireless set up was fairly easy, and it works well, so I can use it with both of the computers in my house. It will print from a USB and memory cards, but I have only used this feature twice. Documents and photos print quickly and cleanly, no smudges or striping of color, even when the cartridge is a little low. The colors are very vibrant and true to life/true to photo quality. The paper will occasionally jam when printing on both sides, but it doesn't happen very often. Ink can be expensive - but almost all good quality printers take expensive inks because the cartridges are so specific to the brand and model of printer. Overall this has been a wonderful printer for documents and pictures alike.

This printer is everything you need!

The Epson Artisan 800 is a great printer.  I was initially looking for a printer that would making printing photos easy and it certainly does that but I found that everything else about it was pretty easy too.  There are 2 trays - one for photo paper (I leave the 4 x 6 paper in there all the time for convenience of printing photos) and one of for the regular 8 x 10 paper.  It's wireless so it's very convenient from any computer in the house.  I've used the scanner a lot and that a bonus.  It takes USB and memory cards so you don't even have to use the computer to print photos.  As far as the ink, it has a nice feature so that when you're low on black you can choose to use up some of the colored ink to make a brown to keep you printing until you get more ink.  The photo quality is beautifula and that is why I ended up buying.  The salesperson had a USB stick with some pictures on it and showed me how he popped in the stick, chose the photo he wanted (using the touch pad control panel - another bonus feature), and printed an 8 x 10 photo that was gorgeous.  I would highly recommend this printer especially for the photo printing portion.  Oh and the fax is great too!  I haven't used the CD/DVD features yet so I can't really comment on them but I know there is a try to pop it in and print on it.

What a great & reasonably priced printer.

I received this printer as a gift for Christmas.  It took me a while to hook it up as I really didn't need another printer.  But, I find its print quality, wireless capabilities and multi-functiuon feature to be awsome and VERY convenient.
