DIRECTTV
We moved into our new home 5 years ago. The house was built cable ready. The local cable company only had to hook up their equipment in order to provide service to us. We chose not to use local cable service and to go with DirectTV. Their installer came, hooked up the system and left. Their channel lineup was good and we were happy with the service. We went with AT&T for home telephone and DSL for internet. I have never been happy with AT&T - I think they are a rip off - but that's for another review. Fast forward to this month. Just like most other folks we have been reviewing...

review »Netflix
now this is a high quality company. I usually recieve my movies within 1 day and the online service with over 40,000 movies is phenominal. I personally think the online feature is the best feature. For those of you with an Xbox 360 or a child that has one it can send from your comp to the game system the movies and you can watch them on the tv. All this for just 8.99 a month thats for the one out at a time plan and unlimited online viewing of the ever changing online system. now to me thats cheaper than renting and with the average person having a game system and a computer in their house anymore...
review »Snopes
I have been using Snopes every since I can remember getting emails. A few short months after I started using the internet and email daily of course I was hit up with email "chain" letters, scams, hoaxes and sob stories by everyone from a Nigerian who had a million dollars they wanted to give me to free gift cards from Applebees for forwarding this message. A friend suggested using this site, and now, not only am I older and wiser when it comes to recognizing the email equivalent of junk mail, but I am also armed with one of the best scam detectors out there.
Snopes.com is fast and easy to...
review »hulu.com
I first found hulu.com when searching for a place to watch an episode of "Super Nanny" that sounded interesting. I tried to watch it online, but for some reason my computer just wouldn't work with the site. Doing a search I found hulu, com, but not Super Nanny.
Interestingly enough I DID find the second part to a television show that I had given up on. I DVR'd the first episode, not knowing that it was a two part movie. Here I was hanging in the wind about how the television movie ended and I was able to watch it online for free at hulu.com.
I admit, I enjoy hulu.com and every once in a...
review »IMDB
I am so bad with names. I can remember faces and people (so other Viewpoints writers please don't change your photos too much) and it is so annoying to be watching a movie and think, "I've seen them before, now who is that?" Followed then usually by, "Now what movie did I see them in?" Since my husband is a walking wikipedia, I can usually turn to him for the answer, but when I can't IMDB is the first site I visit to find out about movie credits, actors, story lines, plots and all the other trivia I need for both personal and professional use.
IMDB (the Internet Movie Database) is overflowing...
review »PaperBackSwap.com
Paperbackswap has saved me hundred of dollars, introduced me to new authors and is very convenient and easy to use. It's free to join, and they'll even give you 2 free credits for listing your first 10 books. The only required cost is for postage, which depending on the weight of the book can run around $2 and up per book. It works on the credit system. When someone requests your book, you package it and mail it (the sender pays for postage). When the book is received, you receive a credit that you can use to request any book you want. If the book you want isn't currently available in their huge...

I thought this would connect me with old school friends. HA!!! This site is full of people wanting you to vote on their picture or join their group. A lot of smut left for comments.
Custom Astro Charts
The Blogger site, birthchartsblog, has moved to a new domain, customastrocharts.com. Its stil in the works, but the background is super cute and there are already some super valuable learning tools, visual aids, and reference materials so that you can start on your way learning the art of Astrology. Its really very scientific in nature, though some are not serious about it and consider it to be more of a pseudo-science. The phases of the moon are kept up to date there and some resources are listed to get free mini readings. It educational, its fun, and its good, clean entertainment. Feel...
review »YOUTUBE
I thought that Youtube.com was simply for posting your "home movies" for lack of a better term to show off and have a laugh until a client asked that I used the videos there within some other work I was doing for them. Include a video in an online article from Youtube I asked? Yes, it is fun, it is easy and when they say a picture is worth a thousand words they can also say a video is work 100,000.
What I like about Youtube.com
- easy to use search engine
- offers alternatives if it can't find what you want
- offers suggestions to other videos on your topic
- allows you to leave and read...
