i had the unfortunate experience of doing business with the wards road enterprise office. for my son's birthday on march 28th i went to rent a car so i could take him to chuck e cheese. it was a one day rental. the only car at the airport location was a raggedy kia rio. i was unhappy with that so he called the wards road location. they had a chevrolet cobalt. upon arriving everything went smoothly. they even did a free upgrade to a dodge caliber they had just gotten in brand new. everything was fine at this time. i kept the car until the next afternoon and dropped it off and went on my way. about a week or so later i realized my banking account was WAY into the negative. furious because i always deposit money according to the transactions i will be doing i check my account online. i immediately find the problem. when i rented my car i had to use my debit card. they automatically hold $100 and it is returned when you return your car. instead of returning my $100 they kept part of it. when my bank account went to the negative it created a snowball effect. i had to use all of the money i had for my bills to fix the bank account. i called several times and was told i'd get a call back. i finally got in touch with the manager today. (april 24th) upon telling him what happened he first tried to tell me i had a two day rental which made me even more angry because it was never a 2 day rental. then when i asked him if they would be willing to atleast refund part of my overdraft fees he refused. so my one day car rental cost me over $600. they weren't even willing to pay back any amount of that what so ever despite the fact they are the reason my account went into the negative to begin with. that shows that this company truly has no regard for their patrons.
this was the second negative experience i have had with enterprise. the first was at the beginning of march. we went to the old forrest road location. over all the staff was great. my dad was paying for a rental so my sister and i could go and pick up our elderly grandfather who was in an assisted living facility. i went to get the car and it was a very nice car. a fairly new mitsubishi galant. it only had 4000 miles on it. i went down the road only to find the cd player didn't work. i go back and they put me in a kia optima. the guy went on about how smooth the ride was and it would be fine. (i had explained i don't car for kia) it was the WORST ride i had ever had in a car. my 98 vw jetta has a smoother ride than that car had. the seat also was broken slightly so it moved. the seats were also so uncomfortable my rear end was numb by the time i made it to my destination almost 2 hours away. the steering wheel shook in my hand. when i called they said i could come back again but i explained i was already running behind because i had to come back once already. all they would give me was a 20% discount. i felt as though the entire amount should have been given back since i had returned one already and the one they put me in was a pile of junk. at the least they should have given me a voucher for a one day rental.
i really don't think enterprise has the best customer service practices and they need to change those. they seem to only care about one thing and that's getting their money at whatever cost it is to the customer. i'm a single mother of 2 children and i'm now a month behind on all of my bills because of a screw up on enterprise's part and they weren't willing to even meet me half way to ammend the problem.
