Energizer - Rechargable Battery —

When I purchased my digital camera, I made a conscious decision to also purchase rechargeable batteries and a battery charger so that I didn't add more disposable batteries to a landfill.  Not realizing that there may be a big difference in what brand of rechargeable batteries I bought, I purchased Energizer Rechargeable 2000mAh AA batteries and the charger that goes with them.  Big mistake.

I use my digital camera on an almost daily basis so I need dependable batteries.  I thought that's what I was getting with Energizer Rechargeable batteries.  However, soon after using my brand new batteries, they were losing their charge after less than 30 minutes of use, sometimes even less!  I always had to make sure to have the other two back up batteries with me and often used them.  It got to the point where I was also bringing the charger with me to plug into my van!

Thinking that I needed to buy new rechargeable batteries, I once again purchased a package of size AA Energizer Rechargeable batteries.  Unfortunately, it wasn't long after using the new batteries that I began having the same problem.  I was frustrated and didn't like the idea that I couldn't depend on my batteries to work when I needed them to.  Hey, I'm a mom of two and there are always photo opportunities when I'm around those little monkeys!

A friend told me that she discovered that her digital camera wasn't working properly because her rechargeable batteries were losing their charge after only a few pictures.  I began to worry that my problem wasn't with the Energizer Rechargeable batteries but with my new camera!  Talk about freaking out!

At my next outing, once again my rechargeable batteries ran dry but I was fortunate enough to find two disposable batteries to use instead.  They worked wonderful!  And they also worked for several hours (and days!).  It was then that I knew the problem wasn't my camera but the Energizer Rechargeable batteries that I had been using.  Seriously, I had better luck with batteries from the Dollar Store than these.

Okay, so you're thinking that by now I've switched to a different brand of batteries and am once again a happy photo-taking mom, right?  Nope.  I hate to admit it but I'm still using the same Energizer Rechargeable batteries that I despise.  I'm really not a sucker for punishment, I just keep forgetting to look into a different brand of rechargeable batteries.  However, after returning from a weekend family trip and having to recharge my batteries several times (hence this review), I finally am committed to finding something better to use.  I'll be sure to review them on Viewpoints when I finally do so please stay tuned.

That's great that Energizer agreed to refund you the cost of your batteries. Maybe I should call them too. Even if they don't send me a refund, the more people who call to complain about the batteries, the better. Thanks for the tip!

I agree with you 100% about the how terrible these batteries are. I was previously using the Energizer e2 lithium that would last for 6 months of solid use in my Bose headsets. I thought it would be wise and environmentally safe to switch to the rechargeable, BIG MISTAKE. I am lucky if I get 20 minutes out of these. The part that really sucks is that it takes 9 hours to charge each time.

update; I just called Energizer to voice my complaint and they are refunding the entire cost of the batteries.

I haven't used my rechargeable batteries in weeks. Until I find something better, I'm sticking with disposable. At least I can recycle them when I'm done so I don't feel too guilty. :)

I haven't been able to go the rechargeable route with my digital. I wrote a review on the Sunbeam batteries--not good for digitals; they suck the energy out fast. I have had a lot of luck with the Duracell batteries. They have proven to work well for me so I keep them on hand for the digital camera and will use the Sunbeam from Dollar Tree (another review) for all other purposes. ~Gigi

I want to get into rechargeable batteries but never can. I have a charger and some batteries but I just use regular ones for some reason.

I've never used rechargeable batteries. I've been wanting to get some, but I was unsure what brand to get. I know not to get Energizer. Thanks for the warning. ~Krista Lynn
