Enchanted Review Summary

Viewpoints members are raving about the new Disney movie, Enchanted. They report it as “sweet”, “fun” and good for the whole family. While there are a few reviewers who just don't think Enchanted measures up to the Disney classic film they were expecting after all the hype, the overall majority find Enchanted to be"good for all ages," young and old. Special note is made in these favorable Enchanted reviews to the relatively unknown actress Amy Adams as the princess, as well as Patrick Dempsey, but it could never be determined for sure whether it's his great acting chops or his McDreamy appeal that is drawing the fans. Some might say when watching him they feel enchanted. Some other Disney films that are good for the whole family include Finding Nemo and Ratatouille.

My husband and I took our son to see Disney's Enchanted today. I was a little worried going in since my son is only 3, but he was enchanted by the movie from the first moment it started. — Disney's Enchanted movie is the story of a princess that gets sent to NYC just before her… read full review »

Enchanted is a charming, funny movie the kids will love.  Don't think too much about the plot though.  Through out the movie we are told implicitly and explicitly, fairy tales don't come true, fairy tales are silly and only for starry eyed dreamers, then in the end, predictably but… read full review »

I grew up with classic Walt Disney movies and used to spend Saturdays at the matinee watching Disney movies one after the other. That was years ago when it was safe to drop your children off and let them enjoy a movie or two with a couple of friends.  It was like having the theater to yourself, with a room of mostly teenagers and pre-teens all munching down on popcorn, candy and cokes.  Those were the good old days, indeed!  As the years progressed, Disney movies started to short-change my kid's generation and the movies were just so-so.  Since Disney has merged with… read full review »

I was dying to see Enchantedwhen it came out last holiday season but I couldn't talk my husband into going and my nephew had already seen it.  So I added it to my Netflix queue and waited patiently for it to come out on video.  It came out last week so I watched it on the day it arrived and liked it but wasn't totally wild over it. Enchanted is about Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) who is a animated character who is much like Snow White in her pureness, sweetness, and propensity to attract cute forest animals but the mere sound of her lilting voice. — When Giselle… read full review »

Okay, Enchanted- you are going to read a review that you will probably not read anywhere else. You might find that I don't usually approach things in a way that many others do- which constantly cracks my parents and family up. Must be the artist in me. — — ENCHANTED. The story starts out with a watered down cartoon version of a princess and prince story which is like a blenderized version of many of the old-time Disney fairy tales. I say watered down, because when you compare the detail and artistic value of the old time Disney cartoons, this is just- well a lite version-… read full review »

"Enchanted" is the first film in ages that just about anyone can go to and find something to enjoy.  For moviephiles, there are excellent performances by Amy Adams (Giselle, the princess) and James Marsden (as her rather dense Prince), and vocally by Susan Sarandon (as the Evil Stepmother/Queen), though her actual screen appearance is a bit campy.  The supporting cast is also good, especially Timothy Spall as Sarandon's bumbling henchman who comes to doubt his actions.  Only Patrick Dempsey, unremarkable as a cynical New York divorce attorney and Idina Menzel, wooden as… read full review »

Ok, I don't have toddlers anymore - I took my daughters to see this movie last weekend (they are 18 & 21).  We all enjoyed it!  Ok, so we really went for McDreamy Patrick Dempsey. —  The movie did bring us back to the Disney days (Little Mermaid, etc).  Ok, so it was a little cheesy but it was definitely a feel good movie.  I have to admit we've been singing a few of the songs around the house all week. — Good for all ages!  Very entertaining. —… read full review »

Disney has such an fantastic catalog full of amazing films, wonderful classics that span nearly a century.  Amazingly, the newest addition, Enchanted is the best of all.  That's right, better than Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.  Wow, that it a bold statement, but while I love this movie the most, it wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable without the history of all these films.  Enchanted referrences so many Disney classics, and part of the fun in recognizing all of them, that is if you can. — The movie is about a… read full review »

If I could give this film more than five stars I probably would!  Some have said that the animated beginning of the film is cheesy.  Well it is!  That is fun of it!  I'm not sure I have ever seen a film that was completely devoid of cheesiness.  The storyline is great with a good moral center.  Be yourself no matter what!  It also has a good love story. — The acting is also superb!  Amy Adams (Giselle) is one of my new favorite actresses!  She played Giselle with a light innocence that was always believable.  Her character was often… read full review »

I loved loved loved this movie.  Can we say cute, funny, romantic, charming, lovable, and a new Disney classic.  I loved the fact that when the princess enters the real world she doesn't lose her princess powers.  Definently, one to add to my DVD collection.  I also loved the cleaning up scene, just reminded you of the animation scene of Snow White.  I loved the humor of how Disney picked fun at itself trying to recreate this scene in the real world.  Also, McDreamy, what more is there to say so cute and so fun to watch.  I absolutely loved the songs. … read full review »

"Enchanted" just happened to be the movie showing on our 20th anniversary...and it was perfect!  In our 60's and looking for something light and humorous it really fit the bill. We didn't really know anything about it but were very pleasantly surprised by the smooth flow, humor (that caused us to burst into, at minimum, bouts of chuckles and laughter), ironic events, references to previous 'fairytales' and childhood, expressions of pure joy (the young actress was perfect for the part), the combination of human/animal reactions of her forest friends, and the… read full review »

Enchanted-A new Disney movie — My almost seven year old daughter and I have been waiting for this movie to come out and let me say, it was worth the wait. We loved it! — In the theater were all ages of children, boys and girls. All seemed to enjoy the movie. There were ALOT of funny parts, fairy tale dreams, the usual wicked step mother and poisoned apples and a dramatic ending. — I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone so I'll just say that I feel like it was worth my time and money to go see it. Patrick Dempsey was great as a single dad raising a little girl,… read full review »

"Enchanted" was a fun movie to watch.  While the cartoon side wasn't as well drawn as Disney is usually known for, it was basically just to set the scene for the human actors after all.  I loved the chipmunk character, and that Giselle's belief in her prince and in true love could not be stomped out by the McSteamy character (yeah, I forgot his name... sorry!).  And the musical scene in the park was so fun! The movie is supposed to remind us of four Disney princesses - I can see Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty, but someone said there's also reminders of Belle of… read full review »

I loved this movie.  I liked how they made fun of the cartoon/fairy tales of old, but they weren't harsh about at all.  This is a great movie for all ages....girls/boys/adults.  Can't wait for the DVD so I can watch this whenever I want.  Nothing in this movie was too silly, it kept you entertained throughout.  The ending dragged somewhat, but I don't feel it ruined the… read full review »
