I have been a member of Empower Federal Credit Union for over 10 years. In that time, I have found them to be helpful and flexible. I have watched them grow from a very small credit union to what they are now. I enjoy talking with the cashiers in the bank. They always have a smile for you. The building on the corner of Buckley and Morgan is the one I usually bank at. However, I have found all the branches to be extremely helpful.
Originally, you had to be an employee of Niagra Mohawk or a member of an employee's family. That is how I got in. Now, you can go in and join.
There is not a minimum balance for free checking or a savings account. Wait, there is a minimum of $25 required in a savings account, but compared to the hundreds main stream banks want....
I would highly recommend Empower to anyone looking for a change from the mainstream banking industry.....where I found they were not exceptionally friendly to the middle class of the world. Empower does understand what it is like to be middle class and helps you work with what you have.
