We were given this microwave from a friend. I have never used Emerson appliances before but have been pretty happy with this microwave. I use it at least once a day. It heats food up very well. It's pretty roomy on the inside without taking up a large amount of room on my kitchen counter. I like the sleek modern look of the chrome. It looks really nice in my kitchen. When it gets dirty it is very easy to clean, everything wipes off of it really easily. It never takes me more than a few minutes to clean it. I have been very happy with the performance of this microwave. I will definitely be buying Emerson appliances again. Ease of Cleaning Everything wipes off really easily. Never taken me longer than a few minutes to clean it. Ease of Use It is pretty self explanatory. No confusing buttons. Durability I use it at least once a day and it has held up really well. Works just as good as the day I got it. Design I like the sleek modern look of the chrome. Looks really nice in my kitchen.

I love the Emerson microwave. The defrost cycle is a life saver for me. I can control the cycle and have the meat defrost throughout or just enough to separate for final preparation. It is so easy for me to remove the turntable and using just a simple solution of dish wash detergent and water can clean it quickly. The stainless steel and glass exterior blend cleans just as easily. I've owned Emerson products in the past and have no doubt that this microwave will last many years. Performance Settings make it so easy for you to control desired cooking time and the performance never lets me down. Whether cooking, defrosting, or simply heating something up. Settings/Features The controls are very easy to read. They are very eye friendly and very easy to understand. Ease of Cleaning I have never had to use anything but a simple solution of dish wash detergent and water to clean both the interior and exterior of the microwave. Ease of Use I love how easily you can get your cooking needs accomplished. It handles everything from heating something small to cooking the entire meal! Durability This is only my second microwave in 19 years. Both were made by Emerson. They truly hold up to the job. Design The neat blend of glass and stainless steel married to the black color can compliment any kitchen! It can blend in with the colored appliances, as well as the stainless steel beautifully! It also accents my maple kitchen cabinets to a tee!

This is the best microwave I have tried so far! It has many settings and features that have made cooking a million times easier! My favorite feature has to be the size though. Previous ones I have used were way to small which is very inconvenient, but not this one! The length and width are perfect on this Emerson. I love being able to fit a casserole dish in it comfortably but at the same time it not take up that much counter space. Performance Very powerful and always gets the job done! Settings/Features Love the variety of features such as "dinner plate" "frozen vegetables" and "kitchen timer." Very convenient. Ease of Cleaning For the most part it is very easy to clean, sometimes it does need a good hard scrub but that depends on spills/food. Ease of Use Very simple with self explanatory buttons. Design I love the design, it is very neutral but at the same time the steel makea it sleek and stylish.

After only 18 months from my purchase date this product just stopped cooking. Lights, timers work but no heating or running. I am on very low fixed income and do not have money to replace it. Now that the tornado has chewed up most of my town, not me thank goodness, I will not be able to get even a cheap one as all cheap appliances are flying off the shelves of what stores are left. NEVER AGAIN BUY EMERSON !!!!!!

Bought this microwave about 8 months ago and have had zero problems with it . I find it to be a good value for the money. I like to use it to heat up things like tortillas, cup'n noodles soups and many things. The microwave  looks great in my kitchen, thanks to it's nice metalic finish. The size is just below medium, for example you can fit a chicken inside.The microwave also comes with a lot of settings.The reason i'm calling it average is because i'm not sure if other more expensive microwaves perform better than this. Like most or every other microwave this one dings when its finished heating up your food. It also comes with a built in clock which i actually use because i don't have any clocks in my kitchen. This microwave is also great for defrosting frozen meat.Cleaning is easy all you have to do is remove the rotating plate and wash it, and wipe the inside of the oven with a wet rag and your good to go.Overall i would recomend this to anybody who wants a regular microwave oven without anything fancy.

I bought this microwave a little over 3 months ago. Last night I finished heating up a dish and went to heat up another. When I touched the Time Cook button, the microwave died. I tried plugging it into different outlets but it stayed dead. I've owned several microwaves over the past 30 years and I've never had one do this before. I have had bad experiences with Walmart-bought electronics before and this one seals the grave, so to speak. I will never ever buy an electronic item from Walmart again. It's not a bargain if the thing doesn't work.

I received the nice-looking Emerson microwave, model # MW8119SBM, as a gift for Christmas, 2008.  It worked very well until the 90-day return time was up.  It just stopped working one night.  The next morning it worked again.  Great!  Must have been a fluke.  Then a week later it did the same thing....not so great.  This pattern repeated itself for a few more weeks and I tried many different things.  I reset the fusebox in case that was it, not it..........changed the plug, not it..............added a serge protector......not it.  And now **it has completely died** and gone up to that great microwave heaven in the sky......well, maybe the dump is more like it.  I'm very disappointed and after reading reviews on other sites , **my microwave is apparently not the only one**....apparently there's a mass grave of Emerson MW8119SBM microwaves out there somewhere and Emerson could care less.  I can also no longer find this model for sale and yet no recall, that I can see, has been issued.   How interesting. My advice is to buy something else.  There is a lot to choose from out there. Good luck and happy microwaving!

We received the Emerson MW8119SBM as a replacement for a defective model.  I am so impresssed with this particular model.  It defrosts meats wonderfully!  I have always had meats partially cooked, but partially frozen.  This microwave defrosts a pound of hamburger in 5 minutes, and it is perfectly done!!  It is a bit smaller, but still has the same cubic feet, and the same wattage as the defective model.

I got this microwave for a very low price, but it came at a price. Initially, you'd think that this was a basic microwave, but it's more than that. It's a ticking time bomb. I'll admit, I was able to get a lot of use out of it, but I expect microwaves to last a very long time since they don't tend to break more than other kitchen appliances. The firs thing you'll notice is that over time, it eventually stops heating food properly, as it takes longer to cook anything after a few months. Second, the bulb will eventually burn out, so not only will you not have you food ready to eat, but you wouldn't even be able to tell while it's being heated. You'd have to stop it, take the food out, inspect it, and put it back in and reset the timer. This becomes tedious after a while since I don't exactly like sitting in front of the microwave. There are many other options from well known brands, so I'd suggest that you consider those products over this.

I bought our Emerson microwave about two years ago. I love how fast it can heat our food up. I have noticed a few problems though: it's hard to keep clean on the outside black and silver. It always looks smeared and spotty. Looks cool when it is all cleaned up and shiny though. Also I don't think some of the buttons are clear enough. Sometimes you have to make an educated guess as to what setting you should use! Confusing steak with the water setting doesn't cook a very good steak. Also after you use that setting it stays on that setting until you change it! the inside cleans up nicely and I do love the size of the microwave. I would recommend it to my friends and I would make the same purchase again.
