We purchased this Emerson microwave after our 2 year old Sharp died, since they have a long warranty on the magnetic motor pieces, we received a full refund from our Sharp from the company warranty dept. We purchased both the Sharp & Emerson from Walmart. The Sharp was $120 and this Emerson was $80. We were just hoping to have a microwave with reheat sensor features that was nice looking and lasted longer than 2 years -- this Emerson has COMPLETELY met our expectations!
We have taken this microwave through 3 moves - from a small apartment, to a medium townhouse, to a large house on a cross country move 2000 miles away - it still works like the day we brought it home! The turntable feature is hard to find and this model has it! It also has an easy to clean touchpad and the inside is also very easy to clean! MOST containers and cups fit into the microwave, unlike some with very low ceilings.
It does have stainless steel accents on the front and as such (as some people without experience with S.S. may not know) it will keep every fingerprint on it until you clean it with soapy water or special S.S. cleaner (I choose soapy water since it's less toxic). I'm not sure what these other people are doing to their microwaves to make them die within 6 months, we certainly have heavy use of ours with our large family that cooks EVERY meal of the day and snacks in this microwave -- perhaps they have just gotten a bad egg or two of the batch. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this mircowave as it has held up in pristine condition without much effort, through multiple moves, constant cooking, and it looks GORGEOUS after all this work!
And it is STILL going strong....
