Emerson 19 Inch LCD HD TV/DVD combo

By

from Cumberland, MD

Comments about Emerson - 19 in. LCD TV:

We originally bought this flat panel TV because it fit the dimensions (nothing over 20 inches) allowed when our MIL was admitted to the nursing home after surgery. We also purchased this model because it was the only one that had a DVD player included as part of the TV and we thought it would be so great that we could also play movies directly through the TV for her. What we discovered after unpacking and connecting the TV was that it was also internet ready, just plug in and connect! What a great package in a flat panel TV! Now that she is home, we are making full use of all the features. Ordinarily we would not have purchased an internet ready TV just to download movies and such but since we just happened to have one.... and the Emerson has great LCD HD picture. I was skeptical that HD would be any better than the picture quality we were used to but there really is a difference. For a compact flat panel TV, this model is truly affordable and provides so many features! I would recommend it to anyone who is just starting out or simply looking to try out this new technology at an affordable price.

Emerson LCD TV

Comments about Emerson - 19 in. LCD TV:

We are two day in with this TV, I hope I am not speaking too soon.  It has great sound and color.  I purchased it for my teenager.  I really like the size, it doesn't take up alot of room. The menu has a great selection if you are going to add a surround sound and you can easily, add an universal remote if you like.

Good LCD TV, but don't lose the remote!

By

from Indianapolis, IN

Comments about Emerson - 19 in. LCD TV:

This Emerson 19 in. LCD TV is the perfect size for a bedroom or other smaller room - fairly lightweight, with a crisp, clear picture.  Good sound, too.  And I would give the TV itself a five-star rating.  But... I've yet to find a universal remote that will work with this TV.  The remote that comes with the TV is okay, but I usually like to have two remotes handy - one for each spouse, lol.  In searching for a universal remote, I discovered that others were having the same difficulty.  Sometimes using a code for a similar built TV will do the trick, but not with this one.

While it's not imperative that a second remote be used (I just like to have two), there is the possibility at some point in time that the remote will break or wear out, and finding a replacement could be difficult.  So that's why I'm giving this Emerson TV a lower rating.  But for a second or spare TV, for the price, this TV is worth a look.

Great Product, Great Value!

Comments about Emerson - 19 in. LCD TV:

My fiance and I got this TV around April 2010, and it was a great decision! The picture is nice, great sound quality, plenty of hook up capability for our XBox 360 and PS3. Although the screen isn't large, it's still a great product for a spare or a bedroom. I highly recommend it.

just what i wanted

By

from Durham, NC

Comments about Emerson - 19 in. LCD TV:

I bought this television specifically so I could have something in the bedroom. I wanted something fairly small but good quality with a couple of "nice" features but not too fancy dancy. This fit the bill nicely. My favorite feature is probably the sleep function, which allows me to leave it on while I'm reading or getting ready to go to sleep but not have to make an effort to turn it off. Of course, it has a remote control, so I don't have to get up no matter what. Sound and picture quality are great. You do have to be careful with LCD's because the picture is designed to be viewed sort of straight-on, but this is true of all LCD televisions, not just this one. It's got all the standard color, brightness, contrast features and is easy to hook up with a DVD player or other equipment. It's very light, and as a 19 inch flat screen, easy to move around and place anywhere in the room that I want without taking up a lot of space or becoming a focal point in the room. It was very reasonably priced.

Not too bad...

Comments about Emerson - 19 in. LCD TV:

We bought this tv to go in the dining room area as an "extra". It was meant to be an inexpensive "extra" tv to use instead of the other nicer, bigger tv. It was smaller, would use less energy, would be closer to where we were working (sometimes), etc. So, we just wanted the basics to work ok -- sound, tuning, reasonable number of stations (we just use an antenna for this tv), you know, that kind of stuff. So, it did fine in the dining room area. But, when we installed it in another room, using a wall mount, it found a background noise that seems to occur about eighty five to niney percent of the time. I suspect it is some kind of vibration but it's really kind of odd. It did not occur when it was on it's little platform though so I just assume the problem is our laziness in not trying to resolve it. Anyway, it works fine and for the price, we're reasonably happy with it. The only thing I would like for it to have had is the program overview that gives you a rundown of what is on each station for hte next 12 hours or so. This one just gives "info" which is what is on now.
