Changing from dial-up to high speed Internet in 2006 rocked my world. As a freelance writer and Internet addict, I embarked on a whole new world, and this is the best part, at a good price. One reason I was reluctant to go to high speed was because I did not want to pay high prices. After the local telephone company changed from Sprint to Embarq, Embarq ran ads in the local newspaper advertising DSL Internet for about the same cost of dial-up with no price increases. After being on dial-up for seven years, I jumped at the change, and what a change it was. No more waiting forever for pictures to load or hitting the stop button before they load. No more unreliable browsers or tied-up phone line. It was a pleasant surprise the first time the phone rang while I was on the Internet.
The best part, besides the price, is the ability to watch videos. The only inconvenience was when the phone lines were accidentally cut during roadwork, but this is rare. This type of DSL is considered "lite" because it is a lower speed than other types of DSL. However, it is fine for my needs, and I have been able to do everything I wanted on the Internet. Of course, every area has different telephone companies so check with your local telephone company to see if they offer "lite" DSL at a lower price. Make sure the price will not change because some specials offer temporary prices.
