With the holiday season approaching, my husband and I put a few holiday movies at the top of our Netflix queue. One of the choices was Elf, a 2003 movie starring Will Ferrell. Will Ferrell is not one of my favorite actors, but my husband loves him. I have to say that his performance in this movie, had me liking him a little bit more!Elf
Elf has a teriffic cast of actors. Other than Will Ferrell, you will find Bob Newhart, James Caan, and Ed Asner in starring roles. The movie is directed by Jon Favreau. The plot is rather simple. The story begins with an infant who crawls into Santa's toy bag without Santa noticing. He ends up at the north pole and is raised as an elf. Even though he is 5 times the size of a normal elf, he is accepted by the elves and thinks of them as his family. His name is Buddy. One day Buddy decides he wants to find his real father so Santa allows him to make the trip to the Big Apple to find him. The trip is full of unexpected happening and full of humor. If you enjoy Will Ferrell, you will certainly want to see this movie. It has a holiday theme and if full of laughs. It is rated PG-13 for some crude humor and mild language.
My ViewPoint
I found this to be a very entertaining movie with an interesting story. Although the plot is pretty predictable you never know what kind of trouble Buddy will get into next. The movie is really funny from the beginning to the end and you will find yourself holding your stomach from laughing so much. I recommend this movie to everyone who would like a little holiday entertainment and especially Will Ferrell fans. The graphics are wonderful, the sets all perfect for holiday themes, and the acting is all top notch and the humor is contagious. I like it!
