I have a PS3 and am very happy with it.  I game some, but since the PS3 has a built in bluray player, we've ended up using that to replace our dvd player.

I haven't ever played a Wii though, so I don't know from a gaming perspective if that's better than the PS3 or not.

We have a PS3 and my family members have a Wii.  There is a big difference:

Wii is great for family games that EVERYONE can easily participate in like bowling, carnival games, etc.  Wii is great for parties too, my family members bring theirs over for every occasion b/c it is so easy to teach anyone to play.

PS3 is much better if you want to play more difficult games and you actually like real video games.  Plus like Kevin said, it has the blueray player which is the wave of the future :)

So it comes down to what are you looking for - If you want something fun and easy to play with your family - Wii is the way to go.  If you are a gamer and you want to play real games, get the PS3.  If you get enough back from your taxes - get both :-D

The guys at the store suggested Xbox, but I was buying for teen boys. They said that or also PS3. But, they noted the wii was more family type games and then ones for younger kids etc. with wii.

We've had two PS stations. Each lasted about one year.

The Xbox arrived not functioning right - an issue mentioned online by many. The replacement was fine though, and has lasted more than a year now.

I have all three and also have young children.

Wii is the best for the kids under teens because of the easy learning curve, basic controler and there are plenty of games for kids.  I find myself playing the Wii more these days now that my kids have become fans.  My 4 year old has beaten me in Wii golf already!!!

Xbox / ps3 are great for teens and adults looking for sharp graphics and intense game play.  While there are kids titles, I find that the younger children have troubles with the more complex controllers (their hands aren't big enough)

Todd, there aren't that many kid titles for PS3 anyway :-D  I play kids games mostly b/c I enjoy the cartoony stuff, but have had a hard time finding anything I would like outside of Madagascar so far.  Let me know if you know of any good ones!!  I don't like EASY kid games, I like the ones that actually take time to play.
