I have had such a great experience with my acupuncture treatments that I feel it only proper to share the news about Elaine Vozar's newly revamped practice at Imagine Health (formerly Acupuncture Works). They're right at the top of Chicago's Lincoln Square at 4765 N. Lincoln.
I thought acupuncture would be scary, but Elaine made me feel better treated than any "Western" doctor I've ever seen. She asks questions. She LISTENS. She helps me put together all of my physical, emotional, mental states and look ahead to how I would like to feel. She's helped me with colds, and headaches, and seasonal depression, and chronic pain following surgery.
While well-trained in traditional Chinese medicine, Elaine is also able to talk with me about the test results I get from regular checkups and specialists in Western medicine. She's very honest about what she can and cannot treat (I had extreme tooth pain, and she convinced me to go to the dentist, not expect her to handle what she knows her practice will not--though she did help alleviate some of the pain until I could get a root canal! I especially recommend her services to women, because of Elaine's particular knowledge and care about women's health (though she sees, of course, a wide variety of dedicated patients, including children).
And yes, sometimes the needles pinch. But the high quality of the needles and other supplies used, and the highly sanitary yet aesthetically pleasing and friendly environment of the clinic, has made me a complete convert.
