Have you considered Lincoln Memorial? That's in TN but far enough away and I believe a liberal arts university http://www.lmunet.edu/

this way you could still take advantage of the TN financial aid packages and in state tuition which is less than out of state 

What about Tulane? My daughter went to Emory. Jo

I've actually been in pretty close contact with people at Tulane. Its a possibility, but its a little too far away.

I was also going to suggestion Tulane. New Orleans isn't too far from where you live.

Another possibility is Emory University. It is close to where you live and quite pricey, but also very prestigious.

I dont have any suggestions other than dont limit your self by location or cost. You can always find money for college, and there are fantastic schools everywhere. Perhaps it would be a great experience for you to leave the SE and see the country. You can always return once college is over.  College is one of the few times in our life that we can leave our comfort zone and explore life and all that it has to offer.
