We have been using our EdgeStar AP1400HS for about 3 years now. It can get pretty hot here in the summer, reaching over 100 degrees at least a dozen or so times during the summer, and staying in the md to high 90's for many more. If felt like we were going to melt before we bought this air conditioner! At least I was. :) Even though it is only rated as a room air conditioner, it does a wonderful job keeping the temperature of about 1000 sq. ft. of our house under control for most of the day. It has never shown signs of going out on us even when we have been using it non-stop for a month or more. By non-stop, I mean day and night. The temperature here many times does not get cool enough to turn it off at night, and the house we live in does not have an easy way to push air through. It is also very easy to switch which room you want to put it in, which was really nice before we got a little was unit for our bedroom. I would highy recommend this model. We have had no trouble with it whatsoever, and it has delivered on everything it was supposed to.
